Principal's Message

Happy Friday Delaware Trail Families,
I hope that you enjoyed your extended break with your families. We sure have enjoyed our first week back here at DT. The students have really missed their friends and our staff members. I have heard many stories of great moments that our children experienced during the break.

Please make sure to take a look at our calendar of events coming up in January and February which include our PTSG Meeting, Jump Rope for the Heart, Valentine's Day Parties, Muffins with Moms, and Time with Teacher.

As a reminder, make sure your child is coming to school with a coat, hat, gloves and winter clothing. When the weather permits, we will be going outside for fresh air and much needed exercise.   I would suggest writing your name on all items as well as checking the lost and found if items go missing.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Greene

Upcoming Events

High Ability Identification for 2017-2018

Identification for High Ability programming for the next school year will begin later this month and be concluded by Spring Break. In 1st grade, students who met specific criteria on the CogAT administered in November, will proceed further in the identification process and parent permission will be required for further assessment which will occur in February. Results of the CogAT are available from the school counselor, if requested. Identification of 5th grade students for middle school placements will begin in February and parent permission will be required for Language Arts assessments. All 5th grade students will participate in math placement assessments. A parent whose child has not been recommended for the assessment process but has evidence of strong, high ability qualities/performance, should contact the school principal to discuss the appropriateness of assessment. Additional questions about the High Ability program can be directed to Julie Van Liew, Coordinator of Curriculum and Special Programs at 852-5726.
