Wautopia! Yes, that's the name of Waupaca's new festival. This City of 6,000 recently created a detailed Waupaca Area Arts and Culture Plan . Henry Veleker, Waupaca City Adminstrator/Clerk and Marci Reynolds, Waupaca Community Arts Board President sat down with Anne Katz, Arts Wisconsin Executive Director and Gail Sumi, League of Wisconsin Municipalities Communications Director in the true spirit of the partnership between the arts and municipalities to talk about their work and the positive impact that both the process and the plan have had on creating community. Arts Centers large and small across the state were featured in May's the Municipality magazine. As we heard at the Grand Oshkosh in a conversation with Mayor Cummings, his Grandson Oliver and Joe Ferlo the Director of the Grand, Arts Centers are part of the Ecosystem. Brain Drain?! What can we learn from the many Wisconsin cities and villages, like the City of Omro and the City of DePere that are gaining and maintaining young people?
