See what's happening at Eagle Elementary
April 7, 2017

Eagle Parents:

First week back, great week back! The students came back and immediately jumped right back into the routine. The teachers were very excited to see how well many of the students did after a long break. Also we were very proud of the kids for taking a few minutes to read over break and to stay sharp. We ended the week with a snack sale and spirit day today.

We have many exciting weeks ahead of us. Each week seems to have several events integrated into them. Looking ahead to next week, we have our Colts Camp for Grades 3-5 on April 13. The following week we begin ISTEP for grades 3-5. This will go on for just over two weeks. Additionally, we have many grade-level specific activities. Start thinking ahead if you plan to be a volunteer for a field trip or fishing days make sure you have your background check in place in advance.

Have a great weekend! It's opening day for many sports this weekend so best of luck and have fun!

Colts Camp:

WE NEED YOU!!! Parents, next Thursday from either 9-10:30 or 10:30-12 we need parent volunteers to come and assist at our Colts Camp for Grades 3-5. The Colts Organization come out and work with the kids on drills, fun activities and allow them to tackle the tackling dummies, run through and around cones, and even catch and run with the ball. Staff members will be present but having some parents makes it so much more fun and organized. If you can spare an hour or so, make sure your background check is good and let our office know before next week. You can email me us at [email protected] or call 852-1050 ext. 1102.

Eagle Mulch Day:

Don't forget tomorrow morning is Eagle Mulch Day. We will be meeting in the front of Eagle at 7:45 and will be re-mulching the flower beds. Last year we finished in about 45 minutes as we had many helpers. Thank you in advance.

April Character Trait: ACCEPTANCE

Acceptance means recognizing and showing appreciation for our differences. Talk to your child about the benefits of having variety. For example, if your child only had one choice of what to play at recess every day, they might get bored. If they went to get ice cream and vanilla was the only choice, that wouldn't be much fun, either! Rather than seeing our differences with others as something to criticize or reasons to leave others out, we can see those differences as something to celebrate and learn more about.

SEEKING PARENTS AND GUARDIANS FOR REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE

Lincoln Elementary, currently under construction, will be opening for the start of the 2018 - 2019 school year.  Due to the addition of another elementary school, it will be necessary to develop a redistricting plan during the 2017 - 2018 school year.  Redistricting has the potential to impact students who will be in grades K-8 during the 2018-2019 school year.  Parent volunteers and educators will make up the committee that will develop a recommendation for the School Board.  The School Board will vote on that recommendation at the School Board meeting in January 2018.  The first meeting of the Redistricting Committee will take place August 15, 2017 at 6:30pm at the F.L. O'Neal Administration Building located at 310 Stadium Drive and will last approximately 90 minutes.  The Redistricting Committee will meet 5 additional times and we ask that the members of the committee only commit if they are willing to attend all meetings.  If you are interested in being a part of the Redistricting Committee, CLICK HERE to provide the necessary information.
