Hello from Mr. Hoover

Eagle Parents:

Down to two weeks before some time off! Very busy week that culminated with a fun spirit day today! Many of our students and teachers showed off their best crazy hair and crazy socks! Always fun to see the kids and staff showing their creativity! The next two weeks will sail by so please make sure you are aware of all the events to come.

We will be having Holiday Shoppe next week for students to purchase gifts for family members if they so choose. Gifts will range from $1.00-$12.00. Parent volunteers will be present to help the students while they are shopping. This will occur on Dec. 9-11. Please see the information that went home with your child.

In addition, Grades 3 and 4 will be performing their winter program on Dec. 10 (Thursday). The students are staying very busy with many end-of-semester assessments coming up next week!

We also will be having our quarterly MVP Celebration the last week before break! The next two weeks is a great time to come have lunch with your child! We would love to have you come and spend some time with your child and a friend! Don't forget all volunteers and guests should submit an online background check at www.brownsburg.k12.in.us .

Music Program- Grade 3 and 4

Parents, Grandparents, Friends and Neighbors,

Please come and join us on Thursday, December 10th when Eagle's 3rd and 4th grade students will be performing their holiday concert for you in the Eagle Elementary gym.   Third Grade students perform at 6:30 PM and the Fourth Grade students perform at
7:30 PM. We are anxious for you to see and hear everything that we have been practicing so we hope you will ALL be there.

Students should be in their classrooms that evening 15 minutes early in order to be ready to go on stage. Everyone should be dressed up in their holiday best. There are no special colors required but we want everyone looking festive and feeling special. Santa hats, reindeer headbands etc. are acceptable.

Please return the "parental assistance" paper  click here if you are able to assist us in some capacity before, during or after our program. Student supervision is always helpful but you may see other areas that interest you. Please return the form as soon as possible to Mrs. Sparks if you are able to help.   We thank you in advance for your assistance.

The next steps on your Student's educational journey...

Brownsburg teachers and staff work every day to make sure your student is having a positive experience in school, and we know you are mindful of your student's current and future educational journey.  Join us January 5, 2016 as Brownsburg Community School Corporation Assistant Superintendent Kat Jessup and Brownsburg High School Principal Bret Daghe share information about the many opportunities your student will be able to experience as they move forward from elementary to middle school to high school.  Mrs. Jessup and Mr. Daghe will cover a variety of topics including: the different diploma types offered, Advanced Placement classes, Dual College Credit, Area 31 technical offerings, secondary math progression, fine arts, club opportunities, job training for life skills students, and more.  We hope you can make it for this discussion to help prepare your family for what's next.  You are welcome to attend any of the following sessions as they will be identical.

  • Tuesday, January 5, 6:30pm at Eagle Elementary School
  • Tuesday, January 12, 6:30pm at Cardinal Elementary School

Character Trait for November and December: COMPASSION

Our character trait for the next two months is COMPASSION: being kind to others.  During classroom guidance lessons, we frequently talk about the importance of thinking of others.  If we were the only one in our world, we could just think about what we want and be a "just me" person!  However, since we-staff, students, and parents-are part of a larger school community, it doesn't work to be "just us" people.   Compassion means we are putting ourselves in others' shoes and trying to understand what they are feeling, and then we are doing something kind to help.  During this week, make a point of recognizing when your child shows compassion and giving them examples of how they can show compassion towards others.  Our coin drive this week is an excellent example of how our kindness helps others.
