This section also is handwritten. Students will be taking the 2nd round of ISTEP in late-April. We will be sharing more information later but for now....Great Job Students!!!!!

Music Program - Grades 1-2

ALMOST HERE
March 10, 2016

Parents, Grandparents, Friends and Neighbors,
Please mark your calendars for March 10th when the 1st and 2nd grade music programs are coming to the Eagle Elementary gym at 6:30 PM (1st) and 7:30 (2nd) PM. Rehearsals have started and the students are anxious to perform for you.

First Grade is singing "Classic" Disney so students can dress to remind us of their favorite movie friend. I'm not looking for complete costumes but bits and pieces that are reminiscent of more classic Disney characters. Some of our songs come from Peter Pan, Cinderella, Pinocchio, Mary Poppins and Sound of Music.

Second Grade is planning a "Pirate" theme so their music will be primarily pirate songs and sea shanties. Pirate attire is the dress needed here. Again, total costumes are not necessary. But just look around the house and see what you can find to enhance our theme. Type "pirate attire" into google and see what comes up. The possibilities are endless.

Papers recently came home asking for parental assistance with our program. After you consider how you might help, you can just return the paper to school with your student. We thank you in advance for your help.

As always, we appreciate your support!

Character Trait for March: ACCEPTANCE

Our character trait for the next two months is ACCEPTANCE. Acceptance means recognizing and showing appreciation for differences. During character trait lessons we often talk about being people who consider others' needs and feelings as well as our own. After all, we certainly don't spend our day at school alone, so thinking just about ourselves isn't an option! When we recognize differences between ourselves and others, do we look at those differences as opportunities to make someone feel embarrassed or excluded, or as opportunities to learn something new from someone else and build them up? We see students showing acceptance at school when they encourage a peer who has difficulty learning a new skill, show patience with others who may read a little more slowly, ask a peer to tell more about their home country, and more. As our students grow, we want them to see differences as an exciting opportunity to learn more.
