See what's happening at Eagle Elementary
May 5, 2017

Eagle Parents:

Thanks to our wonderful PSG for an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week. The staff and I thank you very much for the treats and kind words! So the old adage...April Showers bring....More Showers? Wow, I can't remember a time when so many games were cancelled and the rain seemed to never stop. Hopefully the weather will be back on track in the next few weeks as we wind down.

Just a reminder we have many events and activities coming up in the month of May. Fishing Days, Field Day, celebrations, etc. We love when our parents can participate in these events. Please make sure to take the necessary steps to fill out your background check well in advance of the event. For more information visit http://brownsburg.k12.in.us .

Have a great weekend! Happy Cinco de Mayo!

May Character Trait: CITIZENSHIP

As we begin the last month of school, we will be focusing on our BCSC character trait of CITIZENSHIP. Being a good citizen means that we are acting in ways that benefit everyone. Citizenship reminds us that all of the traits we have learned over the year-respect, responsibility, compassion, integrity, perseverance, and acceptance-are important to making our school a place where everyone feels important, can be themselves, and can learn to their fullest potential. Being part of a group-whether it's a team, a family, or a school-means that we have to think not only of our own needs and wants, but those of others, too.

School Nurse

Brownsburg Community Schools is proud to announce the new online documentation system for parents called CareDox.

Our mission is to work with parents and all K-12 schools to provide a unified health record for every family.

This online system will replace the triplicate form at the elementary schools AND improve the communications between health services and parents at the secondary level by:

  • Offering a digital platform for parents to fill out and store health information, including vaccinations, medications, allergies, etc. ONLY CHANGES to this medical information will need to be updated AS NEEDED.
  • Providing an electronic medical record to securely manage medications, health office visits, screenings, and chronic conditions.

Parents will need to continue to give permission for all medications at the beginning of every school year.

Any OVER-THE-COUNTER medication permission such as cough and cold medicines, acetaminophen and ibuprofen will be given in CareDox.

Health Services supplies only acetaminophen and ibuprofen for grades 6-12 . All students at the elementary level will need to have parent/ guardian provide the supply to the school.

All PRESCRIPTION medications such as inhalers, Epi Pens, insulin, etc will still need to have the Prescription Release and Hold Harmless form completed by both the parent and the doctor. These will need to be turned in to the school nurse.

CareDox is 100% Free to public schools and parents and is FERPA and HIPAA compliant.

WATCH FOR EMAILS FROM CAREDOX AND SIGN UP YOUR STUDENTS TODAY

                              A Note from the Nurse

We are so excited for our upcoming summer break! With the end of the school year being just around the corner, we want to send out a reminder in regards to medications and medical forms.

Medications : All medications will need to either be sent home with the student or picked up by a parent or guardian by the last day of school no later than 4:00 pm or the medications will be destroyed. Medications that are being sent home will be placed in a sealed envelope and given to the student at the end of the day to be taken home in their backpack.
  •  All controlled substances may not be sent home with a student and will have to be picked up by a parent or guardian. Please work with your school nurse to try and get an exact count of medication so there are no leftovers at the end of the year.
  • Daily and emergency medications will be sent home on the last day of school.
  • Medications that are used infrequently will be sent home throughout the last week of school.
Forms : We will be sending out Allergy Action plans, Diabetic Plans, Asthma Action Plans, Seizure Plans and Hold Harmless forms to all students who have required them this school year. All of these forms have to be filled out for each new school year. Our hopes are by sending the forms out before summer break, it will make it easier to get the forms ready for the next school year as many students see their doctors or specialist during this time. You may bring back completed forms and medication to the supply drop off night before the 1 st day of school.

If you should misplace a form or need one at any time during the school year, you may find medical forms on the Brownsburg Community School Corporation Website.

We hope you have a great summer! Please feel free to call if you have any questions!

KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION/MUSIC PROGRAM
IT'S ALMOST HERE!!

Dear Eagle Parents and Guardians,
Plans for the 2017 Kindergarten SPRING MUSIC PROGRAM AND GRADUATION CEREMONY are well under way. Please be sure that Thursday, May 18TH is on your calendar for this special night of events. The evening will begin at 6:30 PM in the Eagle Gymnasium.

Kindergarten students are to be in their classrooms at 6:15 PM. Attire is dress up, so pretty spring outfits (dresses or pants) for the girls and handsome looking shirts (maybe even ties) and dress pants for the boys. Even though the students will be wearing caps and gowns, it is important that they feel special and dressing up is always a good way to accomplish that.

If you have any questions, you can contact Mrs. Sparks or your child's classroom teacher. We are looking forward to a great program and ceremony. It is getting very close to the end of the year and our event is just right around the corner.

We hope to see your whole family at this important event!
