Hello from Mr. Hoover:

Eagle Parents:

A huge congratulations to all the students who attended the Fall Break Reading Challenge Celebration today! Students who committed to reading over Fall Break were given a celebration party today by Mrs. Green! Mrs. Green, Eagle's Media Specialist, does many incentives over our breaks to keep the students reading daily for extra practice. Over 400 students took advantage of this which is amazing! Way to go!  Many big events coming up next week. We have our monthly PSG Meeting, our Grade 5 Music Program, and will begin our high ability assessments for Grade 1.  Great weather has allowed us to continue to head out for recess but please begin planning ahead for much colder weather. We will try to go out most days if at all possible.

Have an outstanding weekend! Go Colts!!!! We need it! Beat the Broncos!

5Th Grade Music Program Almost Here!!

Dear Eagle Parents,

If your student is in 5th grade, please put Thursday, November 12th on your calendar as the night for their evening music presentation.  We are working on a great show for you, a patriotic program titled "We Will Never Forget". We plan to sing, dance and play the night away with some awesome and inspirational music!  The performance will begin at 6:30 PM in the Eagle Gymnasium. Students should be in their classrooms by 6:15pm in order to be ready for the 6:30pm program.

For the children's attire, we will use patriotic colors.  Mrs. Rock's class and Mrs. Burns class should wear red shirts.  Mrs. Welch's class and Mrs. Barbee's class should wear white shirts.  Mrs.  Beebe's class should wear blue shirts.  Shirts should have a collar or be of a more dress up nature.  Pants should be dark.  Neat, clean blue jeans would be acceptable, but no sweat pants, please.

We are honoring veterans, so if you have a vet's name that you still want to turn in, please be sure to do it by Monday, November 8th.  Send me an email at [email protected]  or send it to school with your student on a slip of paper that can be turned in to me.  We can also use still use a few parents to help with set up on Wednesday after school (3:15) and tear down after the program on Thursday.  We're also looking for someone to take some snapshots during the performance that we can use on the school website.  Use the same email to let me know if you can help!  Many hands make light work.  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

We hope to see your whole family at the concert!

Character Trait for November and December: COMPASSION

Our character trait for the next two months is COMPASSION: being kind to others.  During classroom guidance lessons, we frequently talk about the importance of thinking of others.  If we were the only one in our world, we could just think about what we want and be a "just me" person!  However, since we-staff, students, and parents-are part of a larger school community, it doesn't work to be "just us" people.   Compassion means we are putting ourselves in others' shoes and trying to understand what they are feeling, and then we are doing something kind to help.  During this week, make a point of recognizing when your child shows compassion and giving them examples of how they can show compassion towards others.  Our coin drive this week is an excellent example of how our kindness helps others.

Holiday Coin Drive Results

Eagle Elementary Students did an amazing job in the coin drive this year! Just take a look below at how hard some of our classrooms worked and how well we did as a team!! Remember this number represents the number of pounds of coins each classroom collected!! The week's total came to 327.6 lbs.  An average of mixed coins with pennies comes to about $13.00 so that is around $4260.00 Total.

BEF

The Education Foundation is committed to giving back to teachers and students through the fundraising of many different avenues. One of these ways is through the Apples for Excellence program. The students will  receive a treat that meets food guidelines for their $5 donation and be able to hand the apple pin and note to their teachers, making it more meaningful . We will be attending your school on Tuesday, Nov. 24th and Wednesday, Nov. 25th during the lunch hours.
