Zoey Monica, a 10th grade Georgia College Early College (GCEC) student, captivated her audience Friday, November 18, with her presentation and stunning physical representation of her Capstone Project.
Zoey participates in the Georgia College Community Dance Program and studies under the tutelage of Amelia Pelton. Zoey presented her research on the history of ballet to the GCEC family as well as invited dignitaries Erica Arena, Superintendent of Putnam County Charter School System and Amanda Petty, Superior Court Judge of the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. Zoey discussed several compelling topics such as the evolution of ballet, technique and form, as well as ballerinas who have influenced and advanced the art form. She concluded her presentation with a breathtaking performance of
Giselle, as choreographed by Anna Check.
Zoey's Capstone Project is exemplar work that demonstrates not only a passion for ballet, but also a commitment to excellence in research and presentation. She independently organized almost every aspect this event, from the invitations and colorful welcome display, to the venue and audiovisual support. Her hard work and and talent are very evident, and received a standing ovation and auditorium full of cheers.
