Meet Our Class of 2017: R. Syerra Gray

Ravan Syerra Gray is a Baldwin High School Senior who has participated in the Early College Program since 7th grade. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin and Etta ReeNae Gray. Syerra is currently dually enrolled at Georgia College and hopes to continue her post-secondary education at Georgia College while majoring in mathematics. Syerra has shared her Early College experience below.

" My experience at Early College has been nothing but mixed emotions throughout the 6 years that I have been here. There were times when I felt like no one in this entire program was beneficial for my future. I have learned that no matter how invisible you may feel, there is always someone who sees you and the potential you have to become successful and well educated. I am extremely glad that I received the opportunity to pursue my educational goals through this program. I am fortunate to have two families that I love and that I know love me--my family and Georgia College Early College."

7th Grade Math:
Transformations with "Transtar"

Students in Mr. Dillon's 8th grade math class explored transformation using technology by playing a game called “Transtar". This game allows players to start with a single transformation (reflection) in order to achieve an objective, but eventually graduates to a series of transformations, while avoiding certain pitfalls.

The four transformations are reflection, rotation, translation, and dilation. The higher zones are most difficult and takes serious thought in order to finish. This game is very interesting for students, and these gentlemen were highly engaged.
