What is Breast Thermography?
Breast Thermography can screen for early indications of disease in the breast. You can then halt & reverse symptoms holistically before they become life threatening.

Thermography is 100% safe & non-invasive screening for breast health without harmful radiation or deep compression of the breasts

Breast thermography can screen for indications of breast disease up to ten years before a mammogram can

Thermography is also effective for dense breasts & breasts with implants

State of the Art Technology & a Certified Clinical Thermographer are here to guide you towards optimal breast

Our thermal images are read by MD's certified by the American College of Clinical Thermology

It's Summertime! And, (hopefully) the livin' is easy...

Summer is the time where, after the contraction of winter, followed by the hopefulness of spring, we may feel the pull of being more engaged in the outer world; seeing friends, going on holidays, and being in nature may be the bigger draw just now, rather than the inward learning time that characterizes winter.

However, it is equally true that learning doesn't stop just because we are lying on the beach. And, because encounters with family, friends and ourselves, provide us with myriad opportunities to enter into a richer and deeper relationship with life we might notice that what shows up (both the easy and the challenging) might be just the learning that ignites, as mythologist Jean Houston says, a "passion for the possible."

So...may your summer be filled with joy, ease, kindness, curiosity and...being right where you are -with everything offered being a teachable moment.

A Teachable Moment: The Power of Informed Choice.

As informed, self-care-oriented people, who are most likely fairly up to date on the pros and cons of western and alternative modalities, you would have had to be living in a tent in the middle of the desert to not have heard of the uproar/backlash after Angelina Jolie's  double mastectomy. While we at the Thermography Center support any decision a person makes in terms of her or his preventative measures or treatment in terms of breast cancer, we also wanted to take this opportunity to unpack some of the main points.

First, according to the annual statistics report by the American Cancer Society, more than 1.6 million new cases of Cancer will be diagnosed in 2013, while more than 580,000 Americans are expected to die of the disease. This is from the report released on Monday, January 14th.

These annual projections, compounded by the risk of getting breast cancer for an average woman with BRCA1 gene which Ms.Jolie had) is 65%. Being of average weight and not smoking decreases that %, although having a family member or two who have die of cancer, increases the risks.

However, another important factor to consider is that a 40-year-old woman with BRCA1 has only a 16 % chance of getting breast cancer before she turns 50.  It is a radical decision, and not one to take lightly or pushed into based on fear.  With regular screenings and lifestyle changes, we can see indications of early breast disease, 8-10 years earlier with thermography, thereby opting for less invasive and radical measures.

And, a double mastectomy may not be the best choice for most women. A University of Michigan study showed that "nearly three-quarters of women who opted to have prophylactic mastectomy were actually at very low risk of developing cancer in the healthy breast." According to researchers the women "did not have good medical reasons for doing it and were not expected to benefit in terms of disease-free survival." Also, it is important to consider that some experts have argued that even for high-risk women, prophylactic mastectomy isn't appropriate because not all breast tissue can be removed during a surgical procedure.

However, this is not to say that their decisions were wrong. It is important that we do not polarize over this issue, but support each other in doing what feels right to each of us. And, on the other hand many recent studies suggest that prophylactic mastectomy reduces the risk of breast cancer up to 90%. So, what to do? Add in to this debate that this surgery and follow up treatments are hugely prohibitive for most women, and the dialogue gets even thornier.

So, what I know for sure is that within the landscape of western medicine, over-diagnosing, over-prescribing, and probably, it would seem, over-treating, is rampant. And, conversely, that within the landscape of western medicine there are also good medicines, wonderful treatments, with important research going on. The same can be said for alternative treatments. I just happen to believe that we are self-healing organisms, and if given the chance - the right food, exercise, rest, and possibilities for happiness, we have a good shot at a good, healthy life. And, this is what we provide at Thermography Centers - a supportive and a proactive approach to good breast health.

Note: In terms of BRCA1 or BRCA2 (or anyone for that matter), there is also a blood test that is  available for detecting early breast cancer. The two websites that have these blood tests listed are as follows:

Although cancer is on the rise it is important to also consider how many holistic clinics are using an integrative form of oncology treatment. These clinics are progressive, blending traditional modalities with the best in alternative diagnostics and treatments. Recently, I accepted an invitation from a client who had been diagnosed with a re-occurrence of breast cancer, to hear Dr. Philip Battiade speak on "Treating The Incurable" at the Creative Visions Foundation in Malibu. Dr. Battiade has recently partnered with a clinic, Infusio, in Rosarito, Mexico after running a very successful integrative medicine clinic for the treatment of advanced health disorders, including breast cancer out of Frankfort, Germany.  We are all excited to have a such an innovative clinic so close by!
(And, by the way my client is doing and feeling incredibly better under his treatment, and now wants to support others in healing through his 5-step innovative approach. So, if anyone wants to be in contact with her please let me know and I will forward you her contact information).

Please visit Infusio's website for more information:  www.infusio.org

Breathing Space....

Breathe.....

Ah......

You can't miss.....

Do you know that stopping and pausing is one of the best things you can do for your health? Just check out the all the mindfulness and compassion departments at UCLA, UCSD, Stanford, Boston Medical Center, Brown, etc., for the recent research being done on the benefits of cultivating more "being" time and less "doing."

The acronym STOP can be used anywhere - by using the visual of a stop sign or stop light, by texting each other STOP, or just by raising the word to yourself at random times throughout the day.

S= Stop
T= Take a breath
O=Observe what is going on inside of us (feelings, thoughts, body sensations) and outside (the light, the feel of the air, the sounds, etc.)
P=Proceed (carry on with what you were doing)

Stopping and pausing also provides us with an opportunity to feel what our body really needs in order to restore, replenish and balance itself.

Full Body Thermography Scans
Revealing and Helpful!
Full Body Thermal Image
Full body imaging can provide a "body road map" which effectively points to indications of disease or areas in the body that need special attention before serious disease develops.  This is a great preventative and restorative tool.

We are always surprised at the vast amount of information a full body
scan can provide for my clients.

Heart Alert
For instance, a recent full body thermography revealed concerns around the carotid artery pointing to indications of Occlusive Disease which relates to the arteries & the heart.
Although this person had received recent physicals, EKG's and other medical testing, it was only the thermography which brought this serious concern to their doctor's attention.
Thyroid Alert
A head/neck screening or a full body scan can reveal indications for early thyroid dysfunction.  Seeing changes in thyroid function early can offer alternative options for thyroid health.
Colon Alert
More and more clients are using thermography scans in order to see indications for colon health or dis-ease.  Many have follow up with our recommendations to see a colon hydrotherapist or detoxify the colon in order to restore good flora and gut ecology.  In many cases, invasive and sometimes risky testing is unnecessary.

At the Thermography Centers we offer breast as well as full body thermal imaging for women and men

We provide Holistic Care & guidance

You will receive gentle and compassionate care. Should the Thermologist's report see "areas of concern" we will guide you towards the right health practitioner for your needs.

Exciting News!

On June 13th, 2013 there was a unanimous Supreme Court decision which overturned a lower Federal court decision allowing Myriad Genetics' patent of two human genes. Because of this new ruling by the Supreme Court human genes cannot be patented. This ruling now opens the doors from other labs to conduct research and testing for the genetic predisposition to cancer.  Genetic testing for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 is also very expensive, so this decision will also make testing less costly.

We look forward to seeing you all in the coming months.  Please remember to create a stable baseline with your 90 day follow up after your first thermography.  (We have been able to identify and halt serious indications of disease developing in this time period..)

May your lifestyle choices support an abundance of wellbeing and health throughout the warm months of summer.

Be Well,
