Intro to OCPA ImpactGuest Speaker:
Dave Bond
CEO, OCPA Impact
The Election, Money Matters, and Taxes
Find out what's going on in Oklahoma that's affecting
your pocketbook.  Mr. Bond will discuss the recent election, money matters in Oklahoma, and this lead editorial from the Oklahoman on how taxes will increase for Oklahomans if the OK Supreme Court rules State Question 640 -- OK's tax limitation measure approved by voters in 1992 -- applies to tax reductions.

The ruling would cost citizens in the following ways:
  • Disabled veterans could see tax increases of $500.
  • Surviving spouses of military service members killed in action could see annual tax increases.
  • Active military personnel could see annual tax increases.
  • Retirees could see tax increases of $1,000.
  • Middle-income families could see tax increases of $900.
  • Single mothers could see tax increases of $200.
  • Farmers and ranchers could see tax increases of $400,000.
  • Tax relief for aerospace engineers, for oil and natural gas production and for coal production could be wiped away.
  • School districts and the teachers' retirement system could sue the state (i.e., taxpayers) for millions in unpaid taxes that could be owed.
We're eager to hear Mr. Bond's important presentation and are looking forward to seeing you on Monday.
