The End of the World? 9/4/16
The End of the World! 9/4/16

Matthew 24:3 (KJV)
3  And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

GREETINGS FROM RAINY FOLEY, ALABAMA!!

Or LOWER LA as they like to think of themselves!

It is pouring down rain here after the last two days of stifling heat.

We drove down here Thursday, straight into a possible hurricane, which veered off to our left-THANK GOD!

So here I sit, with the strains of the OLD song-ALMOST PARADISE, I'M KNOCKING ON HEAVEN'S DOOR-reverberating in my head!?

A DEAR friend suddenly blurted out a question to me yesterday, an unexpected question to be sure.

She asked me, in so many words:

Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus, Himself, said:

Mark 13:32-33 (KJV)
32  But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

33  Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Luke 21:25-26 (KJV)
25  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26  Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Kinda sounds like today, huh????

The Apostle Peter, while acknowledging Jesus' Coming, wrote:

2 Peter 3:11 (KJV)
11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

The Apostle Paul warned ALL:

" THE TIME IS SHORT!!!

1 Corinthians 7:29 (KJV)
29  But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

That is the CRUX of this message today-

" THE TIME IS SHORT!"

Is it NOT always "TOO SOON TO DIE!!??"

EVERYBODY wants to go to Heaven but few, if any, want to DIE to get there!!!

AMEN!!??

So.................. " what manner of persons ought ye, (we/me) to be????"

Number one, I would dare say is "BE YE THANKFUL!"

Colossians 3:15 (KJV)
15  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

As I sat here yesterday, in sad remembrance of my oldest daughter's (in Heaven) birthday, I was equally grateful/THANKFUL for her gift of my granddaughter who IS here with me.

I enjoyed her gift of a great-grandson, whom I joyfully held in my hands.

We, THE LIVING, are LOVINGLY admonished to FORGET "those things that are BEHIND!"

Philippians 3:13 (KJV)
13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

An ancient proverb aptly states,

" IT IF FAR BETTER TO LIGHT A CANDLE THAN CURSE THE DARKNESS!"

OUR Bible says it this way:

Romans 13:11-12 (KJV)
11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

I BELIEVE:

1 Peter 4:7 (KJV)
7  But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

As my dear brother wrote last week, quoting the song, "IF I CAN HELP SOMEBODY," I BELIEVE the answer is LIVING!

" LIVE LIKE YOU ARE DYING!"

Philippians 4:5 (KJV)
5  Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

MODERATION-from <G1909> (epi) and <G1503> (eiko); appropriate , i.e. (by implication) mild :- gentle, moderation, patient.
Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.

Idioms:

4-in moderation, without excess; moderately; temperately:

BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE DO HAVE AND TIME WE HAVE LEFT!!!

The KEY is:

1-DON'T sweat the small stuff!!!!

2-EVERYTHING is small stuff!!!

As I enjoyed my first SEA FOOD PLATTER-one among many I can assure you!- little Amanda threw a temper tantrum and embarrassed me.

I was sorely tempted to get depressed and sad over her and our "loss," but THANKFULNESS (PTL) won over!!

I remembered the words of the man who built our Ma-In-Law suite on my home.

He casually remarked one day about his friend who had a handicapped child that "only" lived 13 years after their injury.

MY Amanda has surpassed that number and although her quality of life is not always great, there ARE days that are!!!

So.........................................

Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)
5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

" BE CONTENT WITH SUCH THINGS AS YE HAVE!!!"

Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV)
13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

CONCLUSION-from <H5486> (cuwph); a termination :- conclusion, end, hinder participle
Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
