Jesus Amidst the Many Mosques
Conference at Cathedral Center explores
'Christian witness, Muslim contexts'

The Rev. Canon Titus Presler, principal-in-exile of Edwardes College in Peshawar, Pakistan, speaks at "Jesus Amidst the Many Mosques: Christian Witness, Muslim Contexts" on Oct. 22 at the Cathedral Center of St. Paul. At the conference, sponsored by the Diocese of Los Angeles' Program Group on Global Partnership, some 75 participants reflected on how Christian ministry is carried out in Muslim-majority areas, centered around the question: "How does one remain grounded in, and loyal to, one's own particular religious tradition while working with those from another?" Other speakers were the Rev. Canon Paul Gordon Chandler, author of Pilgrims of Christ on the Muslim Road; the Rt. Rev. Boston Jacques, bishop of the Diocese of Guinea; and Najeeba Syeed, Muslim scholar and member of the faculty at Claremont School of Theology. Attendees included Episcopalians, Muslims and members of the wider community.

TRAVEL & PILGRIMAGE

Pilgrimage to Ireland
June 12 - 23, 2017
There is something incredibly powerful about traveling the paths of Irish saints (and some sinners) as one travels around the island containing both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This pilgrimage will explore the varieties of Christianities - Celtic, Roman and Anglican; the inspiration for Joyce, Yeats, Shaw, Beckett and Wilde; the piety of Patrick, Brigid and Aidan; the vision that produced the Titanic and her sister ships. Join Bishop Mary Glasspool and Canon Jim Newman in this pilgrimage of prayer, discovery, and wonder in the sights, the sounds, the smells and the tastes of the Emerald Isle. The trip will depart from Los Angeles and New York on Monday, June 12, 2017, and return on Friday, June 23 - a twelve-day tour. The cost from Los Angeles is $3,899. Contact Canon Jim Newman at 310.391.5522, 888.802.6722 (toll-free) or [email protected]. A brochure may be found here.
