SOUNDS OF ALOHA
McMasters and All Saints' Partner Together to Share the History and Beauty of Slack Key Music

Doug and Sandy McMaster   are bringing their popular s lack key and guitar concerts to the Eastside every Wednesday evening and All Saints' is honored to serve as the their home venue. The McMasters currently host concerts Friday and Saturday on Kauai's North Shore.

The McMasters are  are prolific composers and storytellers. Inspired by traditional greats Raymond Kane, Sonny Chillingworth, and Leonard Kwan; contemporary greats Keola Beamer, Ledward Kaapana, and Moses Kahumoku; the McMasters have dedicated their lives to perpetuating slack key music.

While living on Molokai, Doug became known as the 'slack key guy' after receiving the seal of approval from local slack key master Kelii Mawae. Moving home to Kauai from Molokai in 1999, they began giving regular concerts with special emphasis on sharing the history of the beautiful and rare Hawaiian tradition.

Their show has been voted "Best Live Show in Hawaii" in the Hawai Magazine Readers' Choice Awards. The show is the longest running concert of it's kind. Concertgoers experience slack key music in the real old style  while learning about it's history, legendary players, and the history, culture, and natural resources of old Hawaii.

The McMasters Slack Key and Guitar Concerts will be every Wednesday at 6:00PM in the Church beginning May 25th.

Tickets are $15 for Kids and Seniors, $20 Regular Admission (Children 5 and under Free).  Part of the proceeds will benefit All Saints' Pipe Organ Reconstruction Project.

For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit their website .
SATURDAY WORK DAY
Caring for our Church

May's Saturday Work Day is here--this Saturday, May 21!  The work day will begin at  8:00AM and conclude no later than 12:00PM. Volunteers are not required to stay the whole time, but it is always helpful.

For this Saturday, volunteers will be refinishing the Rectory's fences. In addition, there will be numerous tasks focused on cleaning, organizing, and beautifying the Church.

Saturday Workdays are vital to the stewardship and preservation of our All Saints' Campus. Our 'Ohana is blessed with a beautiful campus and numerous buildings. However, these amazing resources require a great deal of ongoing maintenance and preventative care.  It is our call  and duty  to properly care for our Church home--not only for this generation; but, for many generations to come.

There are jobs for all ages and all abilities. Workdays can be a wonderful family-centered activity. We need the "power of our 'Ohana" to tackle the many vital jobs to make All Saints' shine for and in service to the Glory of God!

TRINITY SUNDAY FREE-WILL OFFERING
Investing in Camp Mokule'ia's Rebuilding and Future

At  the  2014 Annual Diocesan Convention  Bishop Fitzpatrick designated the offerings on Trinity Sunday to benefit Camp Mokule'ia. This year,  Trinity Sunday is May 22, 2016 and the free-will offering at All Saints' will be given to Camp Mokule'ia. Offering envelopes will be located at the Church entrance.

Camp Mokule'ia is grateful for the support of many during the monstrous wave emergency. Expenses mounted, but recovery is un derway.   The  Trinity Sunday offering  will help  as we forge ahead.

MUTUAL MINISTRY REVIEW UPDATE
Parish Survey Available

The Mutual Ministry Reviews have been sent out!

Every family on the Church Parishioner mailing list have been sent a paper copy of the Mutual Ministry Review Survey. If the Church has your email address , you should have also received an email via Survey Monkey containing a link to an electronic version of the Mutual Ministry Review Survey.

Please either fill out the paper copy of the survey and  return it in the enclosed self-addressed stamped envelope or complete the online version via the emailed link. If multiple members of a family want to fill out a survey, please photocopy the paper copy or contact Chris Wataya for additional copies.

The survey has five questions.  These five questions ask about the health of our parish and directions that you would like to see our ministry go.

We hope to hear from all of you about ways we can live out our ministry in new and creative ways!

Mahalo,

Linda Crocker
Junior Warden and Chair of the Mutual Ministry Team

WE THE PEOPLE
Faith in Action Through Engagement

The 2016 election in the United States remains the top of the news in media outlets, and it is inevitably a topic in personal conversations.

Episcopalians can live out our call to care for our neighbors as ourselves by engaging in the public square. This November 8, our nation will head to the polls to decide a number of important elections, and there are many opportunities for Episcopalians to engage in this electoral process.

To provide education about the election as well as assisting in being prepared, The Episcopal Church has developed an online toolkit with a webpage that outlines how individual Episcopalians and congregations can participate in the electoral process through a number of nonpartisan activities.

All election engagement resources, including the downloadable Episcopal Election Engagement Toolkit, are available on the Episcopal Public Policy Network site, click here .

On Thursday, May 19, Annalise Castro graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. Annalise served as Seminarian Intern at All Saints' during the summer of 2014.

GALATIANS: LIVE BY THE SPIRIT
Summer Spiritual Education and Formation Program

At the beginning of Pentecost, All Saints' will host a six-part Bible Study and Sermon Series, "Live by the Spirit", based on Paul's Epistle to the Galatians.  Father Ryan will facilitate a Bible study that will study the upcoming Sunday's reading from the Epistle. In addition, the group will consider the overall themes and  messages    of Paul's letter to the Church at Galatia. The group will also help to shape the sermon for Sunday.

The Bible study will be hosted at the Rectory from 6:30PM - 7:30PM in a comfortable, informal setting.  We are asking individuals to sign-up for the Bible study and (ideally) commit to attending  all   six of the studies and Sundays in the series. The Bible study will have a 12 person limit.

To sign-up, please click here   or use the sign-up sheet that is located at the entrance of the Church starting this Sunday.
