    Federal Hockey League Announces        2010-2011 Award Winners. 
  
  
Syracuse, NY February 28, 2011  Today the Federal Hockey League announced their Regular Season Award Winners. A committee of six members of the media coordinated the balloting from various members of member teams media. The FHL would like to thank John Landers of the Fischler Report for chairing the committe along with Don Money, Wendy Hull and Susan Erichsen of Pro Hockey News, Rich Gregory of the Danbury News Times and Robbie Schwach of the Rockaway Wave for all their time and effort.  It was a very intense job considering that almost thirty (30) call ups have taken place this year and many of our best players have moved on. The Awards will be presented to the winners during the Semi Final Rounds of the Playoffs.  
Founders Award

 

Herm Sorcher Presented annually to a person or group for their outstanding service and commitment to the Federal Hockey League.

 

The 2010-2011 Award is presented to Herm Sorcher, CEO and Managing General Partner of The Danbury Whalers LLC. Herm

is Mr. Entertainment. He oversees all aspects of the Whalers day to day operations of the team and is hands on with all promotions and game day events. He can usually be found

around the rink shaking hands, tossing T-Shirts, introducing guests and even delivering the Post Game meal to the visiting team.  

Founders Award

 

Shield Logo Presented annually to a person or group for their outstanding service and commitment to the Federal Hockey League.

 

The 2010-2011 Award is presented to Phil DeFranco, Chief Administrator for The Federal Hockey League.

Commissioners Award "Announcer of the Year"

 

carmine Presented annually to an Announcer,Play by Play person. Media member or Fun and Games Director that exemplifies expertise and commitment to his or her field and true dedication to their team and the FHL. The 2010-2011 Award is presented to Carmine Vetrano of the New York Aviators.  Carmine has single handedly created the "FHL Week in Review" whereby all the team announcers submit on a weekly basis their teams week in review and then Carmine produces and hosts this 15 minute audio every week.  Without Carmine's help and cooperation the FHL would not have been able to attain all the success that it has in its Inaugural Season.

Coach of the Year

 

This years FHL "Coach of the Year Award" goes to Rob Miller of the New York Aviators..

Rob has taken his team after playing the first 7 games on the road and being 4 games under 500 at the Christmas break to a league leading 32 win season.  Despite loosing his best defenseman to a call up to Elmira and Laredo the 6th of January, the Aviators went on to win 21 out of their next 22 games and win the regular season title with 66 points and a .702 win %.  All of this while making the least amount of transactions in the league.  Hats off to Rob Miller for a job well done!

This years recipient of the "Regular Season Most Valuable Player" is, Kevin Druce, Goaltender for the New York Aviators.

Kevin lead his team over the last 10 weeks to an incredible record of 21-1.  Kevin won 18 of those game.  He is the league leader in wins with 24, 1st in GAA of 2.51 and 2nd in save % with a .916.
