Reminders
Decorating for Christmas
Join in the fun as we decorate the church for the coming Christmas season. Volunteers are needed Saturday, December 2, at 9:00 a.m. Thank you!
2018 Offering Envelopes

2018 Offering Envelopes may be picked up in the Fireside Room.
Christmas Poinsettias
It's time to order Christmas Poinsettias! Envelopes are available in the narthex and in the Friendship Books. Also, you can  click here to order online or text MYOSLC to 73256. Scroll down to "Poinsettias". For online orders, be sure to note the name of the person the flowers are in memory or honor of. Cost is $10 and the deadline to signup is December 4.
Inclement Weather Policy
Nasty weather is hard to avoid this time of year and safety is a top priority. Church services and other church activities will be canceled when weather creates unsafe traveling conditions. We will have closure information emailed to you plus it will be available on the church website, Facebook page, Twitter feed and local TV and radio websites as well.
Blood Pressure Screenings
Stop by Slobodan's office for a free blood pressure check this Sunday between service.

There’s a reason it’s often called the “silent killer”.
Most of the time, high blood pressure (HBP or hypertension) has no obvious symptoms to indicate that something’s wrong. The best ways to protect yourself are being aware of the risks and making changes that matter.

High blood pressure often has no signs or symptoms

  • Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it.
  • High blood pressure develops slowly over time and can be related to many causes.
  • High blood pressure cannot be cured. However, it can be managed very effectively through lifestyle changes and, when needed, medication.

Know your numbers
The best way to protect yourself is to learn where you stand by measuring your blood pressure.
Mission Ministries
Donations Needed
You may still be full from Thanksgiving, but the Food Pantry IS NOT. We are in need of many items - canned fruit, tuna, tuna helper, oatmeal, corn, baked beans, juice, crackers, canned chicken, spam, hearty soups, and chili.

Because of the generous hearts of OSLC, we continue to follow Jesus' words to, " feed the hungry".

Many thanks go out to those who made it possible to distribute 20 Thanksgiving Baskets this year.
GSM Christmas Gift Sale
Good Samaritan Ministries, an OSLC mission, is having a Christmas Gift Sale between services this Sunday, December 3, in the Fireside Room. Some items will be displayed for sale also in the narthex after the 2 ndservice. There will be over 100 items on sale from Kenya, Uganda and Sierra Leone brought especially by GSM International for this sale. These exclusive African made gifts are crafted by widowed women in these communities to support their families. GSM International's Laura Fribbs will be on hand to explain the background of the items that she procured in Africa and the work GSM does for these people as well.
The proceeds of the sale will be used by the International Education Satellite to provide for education projects in Africa and Asia.
Royal Family Kids Christmas Party
The annual Christmas party for Royal Family Kids will be held Saturday, December 16, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Community of Hope in Wilsonville. Volunteers should arrive by 3:45 p.m. The Christmas Party is a great way to reconnect with your campers and camp staff before the holidays. There will be crafts, activities and a visit from Santa. If you plan to attend or would like to help with planning or set up,  please RSVP to David and Dee Dee Etzel at luvmybanshee@gmail.com or  503-625-1515, no later than Sunday, December 10  th to ensure we have enough help and food.
Also, if anyone would like to help provide a Christmas dinner for one of the foster families involved with RFK, please contact Carol Nordahl.

House of Zion Christmas Toy Drive
Bless a child this Christmas with your Gift of Love and Generosity.

For over 36 years, OSLC mission partner, House of Zion, has been helping and serving the poor, homeless, migrant workers, and battered women and children by providing shelter, on-site meals, food boxes to families in migrant camps and other local communities, clothing & blankets, back to school supplies, and more.

This holiday season HOZ requests unwrapped new toys, new and gently used blankets, jackets and other warm clothing, and financial contributions to serve over 1000 people, including 600 children. Donations can be left in the Fireside Room in the area marked for House of Zion.
Thank you!
The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree  is up in the narthex! Select an envelope from the tree and follow the guidelines for giving to the mission indicated. If you have any questions, please contact Marleigh Mathiot at 503-880-4170, or  marleigh.mathiot@gmail.com .

Year End Giving
December 31 is fast approaching. Now is the time to think about making a contribution to the OSLC Foundation. With the increase in the stock market, a gift of appreciated stock will save you from paying capital gains tax. Ask us how to accomplish this. Have you taken your required distribution from your IRA? If not, how about making it a gift to the Foundation to create a lasting legacy. For help with making a contribution to the Foundation contact Carol Nordahl at  cnordahl@comcast.net.
