Footballer receives £160,000 after horror tackle

Whilst playing in a pre-season friendly for his amateur team, Mr Watford suffered a double leg break due to a late and dangerous tackle from an opposing player.

The match was immediately abandoned as Mr Watford was taken to hospital for emergency surgery. Mr Watford would later need several additional surgeries to heal his leg.

Mulderrigs later took on Mr Watford's claim against the insurers for the opposing player. The defendant denied any wrongdoing but after a two-day trial a judge decided in favour of Mr Watford.

After negotiations about the amount of compensation Mr Watford should receive based on his loss of earnings, physical impairments and associated trauma the claims was eventually settled for £160,000.
