Find private funding on The Funding Portal today

Businesses across Canada can now rely on The Funding Portal to instantly find sources of both public and private financing to support their growth and R&D objectives, thanks to a new service launched today by the Portal.

Canada's high-growth firms from every industry sector consistently complain of difficulties in finding sources of private financing, such as venture capital, angel investors and private funds. A centralized database of funding opportunities has long been on the list of must-dos to promote economic development and innovation in Canada.

In July 2011, The Funding Portal Inc. launched Find It, a unique new proprietary search engine, listing all government funding and tax incentive programs in Canada sourced from federal, provincial and municipal governments. These funds represent more than $24 billion in industrial support provided through more than 4,100 programs. Each source of funding is summarized in a FundCardTM which enables fast reliable search results that are highly tied to a company's funding objectives.

Today, The Funding Portal launched a complimentary national Find It search for private funds. The searchable database includes 500 different funds from banks, VCs, angels and other private investors across the country. The Funding Portal has identified approximately $100 billion managed by private investors of various types.

Thanks to the FundCard design, businesses can easily determine which funds are available according to their industry sector, location, stage of growth, and other important factors.

The Funding Portal Founder and CEO Teri Kirk says the Portal has built this tool in order to assist Canadian companies to improve their access to a wide range of private and public sector funding: "Sourcing capital is one of the hardest things that businesses do. Our tools make it easier to find funding and to successfully secure it."

Users of The Funding Portal can purchase access to the new private funding database for a single day, month or year to find private financing for their growth objectives.

The Funding Portal also provides an online concierge service and roster of experts to assist companies to achieve their financing objectives. Fees for concierge services as well as for the private financing database are posted on the Portal.

The Funding Portal Inc. is a Canadian venture corporation whose investors and partners include some of Canada's best business brands, ranging from KPMG to Espresso Capital. The company has plans to enter international markets in late 2012.

Here is what some Members are saying about access to VC in Canada:

"I would like to see peer lending be incorporated into the mix. Why are we not using this vast resource to help Canadian companies launch? ... I would also like to see the lotteries in Canada put up a million dollars per year into a Green Challenge open to the world to encourage and develop ideas that will lead to more sustainable living."

"My colleagues/competitors globally have less restrictions in getting funds, therefore are further ahead in competing with/against me. Always a challenge in finding funding resources for growth. I hope this new direction in funding will assist me in growing my organization not just in revenue but also employees."

The Funding Portal looks forward to hearing your thoughts on the latest funding news.
