RMA is providing additional price elections for selected APH and SCO dry bean types and dry pea types with a March 15, 2018 SCD. Follow the link below to see the additional prices by state for the applicable dry bean/pea types and practices.
As a reminder, insureds must select the Additional Price Election (APE) by the SCD and once selected (in a prior CY), it will automatically roll forward. While our system generally applies the APE automatically, it is important that the selection in GlobalAgWorks matches what the insured signed on their application . Insureds can select and de-select the APE on our forms. Please reach out to underwriting if you have any questions about the APE.

  • Barley
  • Canola
  • Corn
  • Cotton
  • Grain Sorghum
  • Peanuts
  • Popcorn

  • Wheat

Additionally, prices have been released for the:
  • Malting Barley Endorsement; and
  • Hybrid Seed Price Endorsement

2017 California Almond Nursery Survey Sales Report
The purpose of the California Almond Nursery Sales Survey is to estimate future almond acres based on the number of almond trees sold for new plantings. This report summarizes data supplied by California nurseries throughout the State who sold trees to almond growers for commercial plantings. The full report is linked below.

Quick Facts
  • At least 9.2 million almond trees sold by California nurseries since June 1, 2016
  • Average trees per acre of 135
  • Nearly 68,000 acres of almonds planted from June 2016 through May 2017
  • Over 30,000 of these acres were Nonpareils.
  • Of the total trees sold:
  • 58 percent (40,000 acres) are new almond orchard acres
  • 38 percent (26,000 acres) replace existing almond orchards
  • The remaining trees replaced trees within existing almond orchards.
How Agriculture Plans to Overhaul Its Tech
The Agriculture Department has begun a major IT overhaul which include consolidating 39 data centers into two facilities, migrating legacy systems to the cloud and upgrading IT infrastructure.

Their goal is to provide American citizens with a world-class experience from the Department of Agriculture and modernizing IT is essential to that goal. The agency is scheduled to complete the entire process within the next three years.

Also part of this initiative is Farmers.gov, an interactive site where agriculture producers will eventually be able to schedule appointments at local Agriculture offices, file forms and apply for federal programs.
Bill Northey Confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Service (FFAS)
Iowa Secretary Bill Northey has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Service (FFAS).

Secretary Perdue expects Northey's knowledge and expertise to be put to use as the new Farm Bill is formulated to address the needs of American farmers. In addition, his leadership will be key in the newly-constituted mission area, where the Farm Service Agency, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Risk Management Agency will be providing an even better customer experience.
