2016 Global Forum and Award winners
WIAL Global Forum visited Warsaw Poland for the 2016 edition. Nearly 100 participants discovered or rediscovered how Action Learning helps teams solve complex problems, develop leadership skills and genuine collaboration. Different awards were given out to individuals and organizations to recognize their contributions and experiences. SCUBA with Action Learning
Schneider Electric uses Action Learning with teams from multiple countries to accelerate leadership development. Changing culture one team at a time
Culture change is a popular buzzword. How do you get started in a company with more than 300,000 employees ? That's the challenge Auchan Retail is facing when it considers how to ensure ownership and buy-in with the company's new strategy. Auchan decided to pilot Action Learning in Ukraine. Enhancing your recruitment process
Selecting employees to join your team is stressful for both sides. There are plenty of tools to evaluate personalities, yet whoever has used them agrees this is not the whole picture and that seeing people in "real" action is a great test to find out how they think, communicate and work with others. A leading company in Brazil has used Action Learning to enhance the recruitment process, with resounding success, both for the company and the candidates. Even the rejected candidates find that they have learned something from this innovative way of evaluating and recruiting. A definite win-win all around !
Solving problems: loss aversion or optimism ?
Daniel Kahneman talks about two human phenomena: loss aversion and optimism. Both phenomena highly influence our decision making. In Action Learning processes it is important to keep both in mind and raise them to the group's awareness when the coach sees this may influence the group's decision making. Kahneman says they are natural, so they are not bad or wrong in any sense. They may, however, lead to logical fallacies, so we better make sure the group is making decision consciously, without falling into a trap of flawed thinking.
Upperstream and undercurrent
Twan Paes explains the principles of upperstream and undercurrent in dealing with change, and illustrates how Action Learning helps hockey teams accelerate performance improvement. This is the second part of the translation of an article first published in Dutch in Hockey Visie, the publication of the Dutch Hockey Federation.

Although WIAL Philippines started only 18 months ago, they set their ambition super high: contribute to empowering government officials and make a better Philippines !
