Action Learning Agility
Agility is the new buzz word and leaders are reminded to be agile in this complex and fast-changing world. A lot has been written about what Agile Leadership looks like, but very little on how to develop this mindset in leaders, teams and organizations overall. WIAL MALC Dr. Bea Carson explores exactly that and illustrates how Action Learning delivers all the necessary ingredients to build Agile Leadership.
Everyday leadership
Leadership is one of the most written about concepts these days. Just try and Google it ! Leadership is often associated with inspiring senior executives, but in this interesting TED Talk, Drew Dudley talks about everyday leadership, the leadership that happens everyday and can come from everyone.
Testimonials from Brazil
Action Learning may still be relatively new in Brazil, but the WIAL Brazil team has in little time been able to create a solid experience in helping organizations solve problems and develop leaders. Marina Mazi shares a number of concrete examples of problems that teams tackled, and how their questioning lead to new insights and new solutions.
Welcoming WIAL Caribbean
Caribbean may evoke images of sandy beaches and breath-taking sunsets, but since last year, it became the latest WIAL affiliate. And under the leadership of Verieux Mourillon, the region was off to a powerful start with several Foundations workshops and a lot of coaches nearing official WIAL certification.
The neuroscience of questions
This is the second part of the article penned by
WIAL MALC Shannon Banks about what questions to to our brain. The focus in this part is on the safe environment that is created by a professional Action Learning coach that helps teams to explore new possibilities rather than being scared away from them.
Take care of your problem presenter
Action Learning is very powerful to help teams develop breakthrough solutions to complex business challenges. But experience also tells us that the person presenting the problem, and empowering a team to look for solutions, is a critical part of the success of Action Learning. Shannon Banks, WIAL MALC, shares tips and experience about what to look out for so that the sponsor or problem presenter is fully ready to ensure the team's success !
Enhancing an MBA program through Action Learning
The WIAL board is growing and evolving. The 2016 board has representatives from 9 different countries ! An excellent way to illustrate the truly global reach that WIAL and Action Learning has been taking these last years. In this edition of the newsletter, we asked new board members Twan Paes from the Netherlands and William Teo from Malaysia to introduce themselves.
About onions and questions
Questions are critical to Action Learning. But not all questions are created equal. Team members often ask after an initial session: How can we ask better questions ? Peter Cauwelier, SALC, thinks it is best not to try and teach asking good questions. And he has found help in using the onion as a metaphor for asking better questions.
