The Goshen Weekly
February 9, 2016

FROM THE DESK OF BARBARA P.

Vital Carline Reminder:

Goshen Friends provides a valuable service to our parents and caregivers ... our carline. It allows drivers to remain in their cars, despite the weather, and have the children dismissed and secured by a teacher so that they then can be on their way safely. This serves Lower School as well as Preschool.

We have, however, experienced drivers, who have already picked up a child, pull out of carline and pass other cars still in line in order to leave. This is not permitted. This is a safety issue. This behavior is dangerous.  We have teachers and children walking to cars and out from behind cars that are then at risk. PLEASE STAY IN CARLINE UNTIL YOU ARE IN THE LEAD AND CAN LEAVE.

IN OTHER NEWS ...

The 2016 Rock's Reading Challenge with the Wilmington Blue Rocks is underway! How does it work? Every child in both Preschool and Lower School has received or will soon receive a bookmark. Each student is asked to read either 10 books or 10 chapters, as determined by their teacher (young students can have 10 books read to them). As each book/chapter is completed, log it on the bookmark. When your bookmark is complete, return it to your child's teacher (due date is March 11). Bookmarks will be collected and returned to the Blue Rocks. Each child who completes and returns a bookmark will receive 2 tickets to a baseball game this spring! Tickets will all be to the same game. Any questions, contact our school librarian, Maria Rufe.

Lower School parents, be on the lookout for detailed information about the February 25 rehearsal and February 26 concert at Frederick Douglass Christian School in Chester. We are looking forward to this incredible annual celebration of Black History Month with our friends at FDCS!
