Terri's Scene Study Class
Every Wednesday at 7pm
About the Class: This workshop is strictly a scene study workshop that is based on the teachings of Terri's favorite acting instructor in Los Angeles, Bobbie Shaw Chance. It is a no-nonsense straight to the core class that guides you to connect emotionally to your own experiences and to give those emotions to the characters you play.
At the beginning of class, scenes from plays or films are given out, as the actors are paired together. After a series of exercises the actors work with their partners to prepare to put their scenes up on stage. Throughout the night scenes are viewed by the other students, with Terri giving notes and guiding the actors to give their best performances possible in the moment. Everything meaningful or memorable we've done in life has been driven by some kind of emotion and it is our job as actors to give that same kind of passionate emotion to the characters we play. In order to create interesting characters you have to fight to win something for the role you play. Whether you win or lose does not really matter, but who is interested in watching anyone who does not at least try to win? This workshop shows you how to win for your role, even if the character loses the fight.

About the Instructor: Terri Vaughn has entertained us on television for more than ten years. First she stole America's heart with her lovable portrayal of Lovita Alizay-Jenkins on the Steve Harvey Show, then Vaughn made her way to UPNs All of Us and now she brings Renee, a sassy and hilarious nurse to life on Tyler Perrys Meet the Browns. Vaughn has been honored with three Image Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on the The Steve Harvey Show and was also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on Soul Food.
