HR Resources for You !!

I always try to find reading material that stretches me. There are many great blogs that do this and I wanted to feature two of them for you this week.

HR Examiner

John Sumser (@JohnSumser on Twitter) is one of the deepest thinkers I know. He digs into all things and looks at them from angles that most HR people don't even consider. His blog also features other great voices who stretch boundaries. I think it's a "must" for them to even be a contributor !! I make sure to read every piece on his site and also listen to the Blog Talk Radio podcasts he does. You can find his blog at:

Exaqueo Blog

Susan LaMotte (@SusanLaMotte) founded Exaquo (pronounced ex ACK-we-o) and she is a force !! She helps people look at culture, employee experience, employer brand and talent. I dig the approach Susan, and her firm, take because it isn't something that you just pull off the shelf. The link for her Blog is called "Insight" and that's exactly what it offers every time !! Check it out at:

With the year well under way, our HR revisionist, Steve, was dabbling with new concepts and ideas around compensation. To get inspired, he found a deep track from one of his faves !!

(Sung to the hidden gem - "The Entertainer" by Billy Joel)

Just so you can really enjoy this song, here is the link from You Tube -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYLMN2PSI3E

"When I look at compensation
   It never feels quite right
 There's always consternation
It is an HR plight !!

 What is the correct data
I don't know where to start
It all looks the same, all this work is lame
It won't be clear, it's my biggest fear
I want to blow it all apart !!

  I have so much frustration
    Another spreadsheet won't suffice
 The broadbands are too narrow
I'm going to have to compromise

The numbers seem to haunt me
All this is due today !!
I'm going to take a chance and move things askance
Who's going to check, I say What the heck
Just make compensation go away !!"

Before the Piano Man jumps to the next verse, look at all of the new items on the site !!
