The exact date of this sheet is unknown, however, a guess can be made due to various attributes, including the fact that it was wood block printed, the ornate letters, and the use of accidentals. This sheet features an ornate letter T at the beginning of the hymn.

Carte de l'Empire Romain sous Auguste - c. 1770

Ancient history buffs will adore this handsome map showing the extent of the Roman Empire under the rule of Augustus, the founder of the Roman Empire. By Brion de le Tour, c. 1770. The large decorative border is quite stunning.

Celestial Maps by Burritt - 1835

We have recently updated many of our celestial maps  from Burritt's Atlas, Designed to Illustrate The Geography of the Heavens, 1835. These look fabulous when framed as a set or individually.  The two round maps are circumpolar maps, while the other four are seasonal maps and each one shows three months of the year. The atlas was later republished in 1856 with a light wash of color instead of the vibrant colors used in the earlier atlas.

This map is by Bonne and Desmarest, published in the 1787 Atlas Encyclopedique. Interestingly, although Nootka Sound is shown, the recognizable shape of Vancouver Island is absent from this map, though small markings indicate the straits on either side.

Plan de Paris - c. 1860

For the Parisian or francophile, this antique map of Paris is sure to please.
