The family stage at West 165th Street, sponsored by Dollar Bank, will feature entertainment for the younger crowd, including Irish dancers and musical performances by local schools. Nearby will be the Youth Center, sponsored by Neighborhood Family Practice, featuring pop-a-shot, a bounce house, and engaging activities.

Help Kamm's Corners Put Its Best Foot Forward for The Hooley

Join us 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.
For the past several years, a dedicated group of volunteers has come together to weed, plant, and mulch the public planters on Lorain Avenue the week before The Hooley on Kamm's Corners. We all take great pride in putting our best foot forward for The Hooley, including the display of nicely landscaped planter beds with pretty flowers and fresh mulch.

It is said "many hands make light work," and we could use some extra hands to make light work of this project!

We will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2. (The rain date will be the same time on Sunday). Please gather in front of West Park Station with work gloves and a shovel and/or trowel. Kids are welcome if they are over 12, but supervision is the parents' responsibility.

In past years, it has taken our group about 4 hours to complete the project. We will accept any amount of time you can give. Supplies are purchased by KCDC. This year, we also will have a trailer full of additional tools and supplies, thanks to Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and their "Clean & Green Cleveland Trailer."

Feel free to simply show up, but it would be helpful for us to know you are coming (and how many) via e-mail to [email protected].

Let's show our neighborhood pride!

with greenery and color, especially by the weekend of July 11 and 12. That's when GardenWalk Cleveland takes place!

It's a free, self-guided tour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on each day, featuring more than 200 private gardens, farms, vineyards, and orchards in neighborhoods throughout Cleveland. Last year, over 1,000 people toured the gardens all over the city.

This year, West Park is on the tour. So far, there are 15 gardens scheduled to participate. Headquarters here will be West Park Station, 17015 Lorain Avenue, where tour maps will be distributed. To showcase your garden or to volunteer to help with the event locally, please call David Horneck at 216-543-4277 or e-mail [email protected]. Let's show the region what beautiful neighborhoods we have!
