![]() ![]() Denver, CO (August 8, 2012) –The Huffington Post is featuring The Swayback today after the Denver editor of the site recently interviewed (vocalist/bassist) Eric Halborg. The all-encompassing interview covers everything from The Swayback’s beginnings a decade ago to the newly released album, Double Four Time via the band’s own LGL Records. Currently experiencing great success on college radio, the album is named after a fictional dive bar where the jukebox plays an eclectic music mix. This diversity reflects the band’s sound, which The Onion summed up best by saying, “Rock music is a lot like a cup of coffee: Some like it as strong as The Stooges, or dark like Joy Division. The Swayback takes it both ways—usually at the same time.” The Swayback, which also includes Adam Tymn (guitar/vocals), Bill Murphy (guitar) and Carl Sorensen (drums) worked with two very different producers of acclaim on this release: Andy Johns (Television, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones) and Jason Livermore (Lemonheads, The Gaslight Anthem). When asked what it was like to record with the legendary Johns at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles (pictured above), Halborg told The Huffington Post: “There were huge black and white photography prints at Capitol Studios of musicians that had recorded there like The Beatles, Nat King Cole and Sinatra. It dawned on me that the Sinatra print had him singing into the same microphone I was using in the studio, and that Adam was banging away on Nat King Coles’ piano that lives permanently in Studio B. Mind blower. The history of rock-n-roll was basically spinning through my head as I tracked with Andy, and the inspiration and power that came from those thoughts were readily channeled into our tracking.” Read The Swayback frontman’s entire interview with The Huffington Post here – www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/07/the-swayback-denver-rock-_n_1753045.html The diversity captured on Double Four Time has made way for The Swayback to be crowned Denver’s Best Rock Band four years in a row by major alt-weekly newspaper Westword. In their recent cover feature on the band, Westword highlights The Swayback's fiercely independent and non-compromising approach. The most telling quote on that is “What's impressive about Double Four Time is its cohesive sound. Despite the fact that it was recorded in a half-dozen studios with almost as many producers, the album doesn't have a patchwork feel. More impressive is the sense that a decade in, the Swayback has barely scratched the surface of its potential. But while the band poised for greatness, its members are still not necessarily in a hurry to become another cog in somebody's machine, which is why the logo stamped on the back of Double Four Time is their own.” It’s also given the band the chance to share stages with such groups as Gang Of Four, The Hold Steady, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dum Dum Girls, Portugal The Man and Girls (just to name a few). “Sinister and seductive” SPIN “Rock music is a lot like a cup of coffee: Some like it as strong as The Stooges, or dark like Joy Division. The Swayback takes it both ways-usually at the same time.” THE ONION “Coming out of Denver the Swayback is a scene unto itself. The band loves to spike its '60s-style guitar rave-ups with '70s stoner rock and '80s Brit pop” BOSTON HERALD More Info: www.theswayback.com Press Contact: Jerry Graham, The Syndicate jerry@thesyn.com or (201) 864-0900 x252 ASK ME ABOUT: Andrew W.K., Block McCloud & DJ Waxwork, I Was Totally Destroying It, Jetblue's Live From T5, Kestrels, Madball, Manners, Ringo Deathstarr, The Downtown Struts, The Hounds Below, The Swayback, Today The Moon Tomorrow The Sun, Turbid North, Young Rival |
