Kobre & Kim Enhances Latin American and Offshore Teams

Global disputes and investigations firm Kobre & Kim announces the expansion of its offshore and Latin American capabilities with the addition of two senior lateral hires - Robert Watson in Miami and Alexander Heylin in the British Virgin Islands.

Robert Watson, a former prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice (as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida) who is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, brings extensive experience to Kobre & Kim's Latin America government enforcement defense and investigations team, based in the firm's Miami office. He will focus on government enforcement defense and cross-border investigations involving Latin America.

"Robert brings a formidable skill set that strategically bolsters our capability to serve clients in Latin America facing investigation by U.S. authorities," said John Couriel, one of Kobre & Kim's now four former federal prosecutors based in Miami who all focus on cross-border investigations. "As Latin America continues to rise as a top global market and efforts to counter corruption in the region increase, having another former federal prosecutor on the team who speaks Spanish and Portuguese will only better position the firm to provide the highest-quality service to our clients."

Further enhancing the firm's cross-border disputes capabilities, Alexander Heylin joins Kobre & Kim in the firm's British Virgin Islands office. Mr. Heylin will focus on international judgment enforcement and asset recovery, insolvency litigation, and complex commercial litigation involving offshore jurisdictions.

"We are very excited to continue the organic growth of our offshore practice," said Tim Prudhoe, an English barrister in Kobre & Kim's British Virgin Islands office, "With Alex's arrival comes the opportunity to continue to strengthen our ability to navigate the complexities inherent in matters with onshore-offshore elements, an area in which the firm continues to earn a profound reputation."

Kobre & Kim's offshore team, based in the Cayman Islands, the BVI, and the Turks & Caicos Islands, as well as Hong Kong, London, and Miami, has substantial experience handling financial and commercial disputes relating to offshore structures. The firm's worldwide capabilities and local offshore market knowledge allow clients to interface with one integrated team.
