It's the Truth!

by Larry Sherwood
IREC President/CEO

While millions of Americans can more easily, safely and affordably access renewable sustainable energy today because of our collaborative successes over the last three decades, the current political environment elevates the need for IREC's continued leadership.

Our unique, critically important work must continue - in your state and mine and across the U.S. And to meet these amplified challenges head on, we need your help more than ever.

As we approach January, our call for action is necessary to protect our collective progress.

We need to work ever harder and smarter to continue to advance clean energy regulatory policy; to maintain our momentum in training a quality clean energy workforce.

We'll need to fight the fights state by state as we have since 1982 - so our foundational model rules and best practices are adopted across the U.S. Because we can install more clean energy technologies for more Americans to enjoy only with the correct state rules in place to empower consumers, and the most innovative training to ensure quality installations.

Like you, IREC won't stand idle and let future generations pay the price. We have an abiding commitment to the work to which we're so fiercely committed. In the new reality that will be upon us from the first days of 2017, our uniquely independent voice couldn't be more urgent. And so is our call for support from you.

Thank you for your confidence that IREC will continue to deliver the accomplishments you have come to depend on for 35 years: protecting our environment and our clean energy future.

During this holiday season, please consider translating that confidence into an end-of-year, tax deductible donation. You can feel confident that your investment in IREC is a solid one - a way to fight back against attacks on the environment we work so hard to protect.

With very best wishes to you for a happy, healthy and peaceful holiday.

IREC President/CEO

Experiencing Holiday Traffic or Airport Security Lines? That's How Interconnection Queues Feel for Solar

In our regulatory work in states across the country, IREC often sees timelines and "queue management" issues come up in times of crisis, when a utility's interconnection queue has become backlogged, and applicants and customers complain. We're helping resolve these delays in a number of states.  More

Energy efficiency in residential apartments is different than in commercial, industrial or other types of structures or facilities. But thanks to a grant from the National Network of Business and Industry Associations, IREC and the National Apartment Association's Education Institute (NAAEI) are developing a micro-credential specifically for apartment maintenance personnel. The credential, CAMT + E, will focus on skills needed for planning, procuring and managing energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits in apartment buildings. More
Designed by experts from the solar industry and the fire service, the training guides learners through the process of identifying the presence of PV systems, shutting down the system to the extent possible, and minimizing shock and other hazards on the active scene and in the wake of an incident. Featuring rich video content and simulated environments, fire fighters can practice the skills and  knowledge they've learned. More
SAVE THE DATE to Honor Jane Weissman and Celebrate Our 35th Year!
Join us as we celebrate our 35th anniversary and duly honor the legendary accomplishments of our very own energy hero, Jane Weissman,  March 8, 2017  at an evening reception in Washington, DC.

Jane Weissman - the catalyst for much of IREC's success over the past two decades - is a true trailblazer in the renewable energy arena. She made possible much of IREC's transformational accomplishments. As a result, millions more of us now enjoy safe, simple, affordable access to clean renewable energy, while new tools empower us with information and confidence.

Event tickets will be available in January, but it's not too late to show your appreciation for Jane by adding your name to the Host Committeenow totaling more than 40 clean energy leaders and friends. All Host Committee names received by  January 4th  will be listed in the event invite.

We're looking forward to celebrating with you in DC in March!
