The Institute Shifts Its Mission and Organizational Structure
For the past 35 years, the Institute for the Advancement of Service (IAS) has offered onsite classes, workshops, trainings, and retreats in soul development, service, leadership, and organizational design, based on the teachings of
The Soul and Service Trilogy by Susan Trout. These teachings are collectively known as The Clarion Way. In 2008, the Institute further expanded its offerings to include web-based study programs in The Clarion Way.
In March 2014, the Institute sold the elegant building in Old Town Alexandria where we had been located for the last 20 years. In the next several months, a new structure and focus for our mission gradually emerged. We have restructured the Institute and its mission by developing a more extensive selection of website courses and study programs and by offering outreach activities off-site in the metropolitan DC area and beyond. This mission allows our volunteer staff and faculty members to continue to do their Institute work from home. We have rented a virtual headquarters office at a company in Old Town Alexandria. This type of office is popular for small businesses and is becoming the wave of the future. If needed, we can rent space elsewhere for a particular event.
Susan, who continues to serve as Board President and Director of The Clarion Way Programs, has moved to a home in Alexandria. The Institute's phone number (703-706-5333), mailing address (P.O. Box 320245, Alexandria, VA, 22320-4245), and email ([email protected]) remain the same.
We are thrilled and newly energized by our new structure and by the knowledge that this shift in our mission will allow us to most effectively fulfill the Institute's destiny: to serve, at this critical time in our planet's history, those individuals and groups - worldwide - who are seeking a way to be and serve in the world with courage, perseverance, and inspiration. |
