As many of you are thinking of winding up the school year, I have been considering our plans for the future of CCHS. As I have mentioned from time to time, Catholic education relies not on just tuition but on parent commitment to their child's education. You may have read articles about the cost of a public school education, one that ranges from $12,000 to more than $20,000, depending on the school district. Many public schools with budget cuts are asking parents to fund athletics and additional extra-curricular activities. Our tuition of $7,800 for this year was supplemented by our annual fund giving, calendar raffle, fashion show, and generous scholarship donors.

On May 12 at 7 p.m. in the CCHS cafeteria Mrs. Crisci and I would like to invite you to our President/Principal Roundtable. We would like to openly discuss how to improve our fundraising process, thoughts about how send our message out into the community, and general ideas on how to make our school more productive. The event will last for one hour. Please join us to share ideas and help plan how to fill "our gap".

I wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter. Enjoy the time off with your family.

Sincerely,

Mary Whipkey

President

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL :
Mrs. Crisci, Principal

Dear Parents:

I hope that this wonderful spring weather is starting to rejuvenate your spirits as we leave winter behind us. Our campus has been active, as spring sports have gotten into full swing. As we move into this fourth and final quarter of the school year, I would ask that you continue to encourage your students to finish the year strong. Our third quarter report cards were posted on Edline last week. In order to view these, you would look under "private reports", and then "transcripts." Please take some time to discuss this year's progress with your students. There is still a lot of time left when we return to school after Easter break.

As we begin this Holy Week, I hope that you will take the time to join us for our Living Stations of the Cross on Tuesday evening. It is truly a beautiful event. On behalf of the Camden Catholic administration, faculty, and staff, I would like to wish you and your family all the blessings of Easter. This Easter, may we remember the Resurrection and may we always be blessed with love, life, and happiness. May our lives be touched by the true meaning of Easter.

Sincerely,

Heather Crisci

Principal

Ms. O'Connor, Vice Principal of Student Affairs

Parking Hand Tag Reminder
Parents of student drivers are asked to remind their child to remove his/her hang tag before exiting the CCHS parking lot. Students should remove the hang tags to avoid driving with an obstructed view which is a violation of the NJ Motor Vehicle Code. We will make alternative arrangements for parking permits for the 2014-2015 school year.

Snow Make Up Day - April 17
Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 are expected to be in school for our first snow make up day on Holy Thursday, April 17. Dismissal will be at 11:50 am.

Junior Prom
Junior Prom is fast approaching on Friday, May 2. All juniors and their CCHS guests are required to be in school on May 2. Any junior prom participant that is absent from school on May 2 will not be permitted to attend the prom that evening. Representatives from the Philadelphia Police Department will present the Heads Up Program to juniors and seniors on the morning of May 2. Dismissal for juniors is approximately 10:30 am. NO early dismissal will be granted to other CCHS students attending the junior prom.

Student Government Presidential Elections
Video campaigning will take place in homeroom on April 14. The candidates will deliver their campaign speeches to members of the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes in the auditorium on April 15. Voting will take place on April 16. Good Luck to all candidates!
FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE:

The NJ Legislature passed the "Scholastic Student Athlete Safety Act" which requires that all students in Grades 6 through 12 participating in school sports as of September 2014 must have a physical. This has always been the case for high schools, but now includes middle schools.

The questionnaire must be completed prior to the office visit. The questionnaire will be reviewed by the doctor who will then complete the physical portion of the form which will contain questions about the cardiac health of the student in particular. This form has not yet been sent to districts or nonpublic schools. Furthermore, the doctor giving the physical will have to sign a form attesting to the completion of an online cardiac training module.

The new form should be available on or about May 1, 2014. Therefore, if your child is due, or will be due soon, for a physical, please wait until the new form is ready so you don't have to return to the doctor for additional paperwork completion and possible costs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Camden Catholic High School will offer a history book club to the Alumni and the Parents of current Camden Catholic students. The history book club will meet once a month during the second semester on Wednesday evenings. The goal of the book club is to bring together members of the Camden Catholic community who are interested in history and conversation. David Reader, a history teacher and an alumnus of Camden Catholic will moderate the discussion. The book for the second semester is Christopher Clark's The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went To War in 1914. The group will meet in the Camden Catholic Library from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday evenings.
