FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL:

Dear Parents:

We concluded our Middle States visitation on Friday December 5.  Our visiting team spent three days at CCHS, meeting with administration, faculty, and students asking questions about our school and programs.  The team is recommending CCHS for re-accreditation.  As we continue to plan for the future, the report from our visiting team gives us guidance as we work for future success of our school.

One important announcement for this week: our Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for December 12 from 6 - 8:30 p.m.  All faculty are available to meet with parents on this evening.  Appointments are not necessary.  Please come with a list of teachers who you would like to see. Upon arrival, you will receive a faculty list with their locations in the building.  You may move freely around the building to meet with the teachers from 6-8:30 pm.  At this meeting, you may discuss your student's first quarter progress as well as second quarter progress to date.  As of this week, we are just about half way through the second quarter and getting ready for semester exams.  It's a good idea to find out how your student is progressing as he or she nears the end of the first semester.  We look forward to seeing you there.

I hope you have a wonderful week.

Moderator: Mr. Paoletti [email protected]

The Leadership Academy Scholar Course is the culminating experience in the scholar track and previous students have described the program as "life-changing", "inspiring", "enlightening" and "fulfilling" and incorporates each of the leadership academy values of Faith, Excellence, Creativity, Unity & Passion. Students become experts in themselves through learning a series of positive psychology skills which they apply in a culminating retreat.  Students examine their core beliefs, values and goals and how they affect what they notice in the world and what they miss. They become aware of how they think, and learn to challenge and change counterproductive habits of thinking. They become aware of their personal strengths and weaknesses and learn how to maximize their gifts. They learn to be grateful for what they have been blessed with in their lives and maximize the opportunities they are provided.  They learn how to strengthen current relationships and how to reestablish past ones and create new ones. The course usually consists of 12 workshops, a 3-day overnight retreat and two follow-up sessions.

Students will learn the skills of resilience to become confident Christian leaders. They will learn to become aware of their heat-of-the-moment thoughts, to identify and focus on where they can take control in situations and to accept and trust in God's will for the things they cannot. They will learn the skill of optimism and become aware of and challenge their habits of counterproductive thinking. These skills have been shown to decrease anxiety and depression for youth. Finally, students will take part in a day retreat where they will read, discuss, pray and reflect on scripture verses that reveal the Kingdom of God.

PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION PROGRAM

CCHS is a proud participant in the
Play Like A Champion program, created by the University of Notre Dame. The Play Like A Champion approach is based on four simple steps that will build a strong sense of the team as a moral community, which in turn will help adolescents to
GROW.

Each week we will share a lesson from the program, which they have been disseminating to coaches and players since the start of the 2014 academic year.

FROM "I" TO "WE"

"All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one's need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people."
Acts of the Apostles 2:45-47

True communities have "all things in common." Sports teams don't have to become radical Christian communities, but they can imitate the values these communities possess. Being a member of a team entails sharing time, effort, and concern. It entails wearing a uniform. It means winning and losing as a team. It means sharing in the disappointments as well as the common joys of others.
Our Mission
Camden Catholic High School is a suburban, college preparatory, day and boarding school. It educates young men and women spiritually, academically, socially and physically in a faith community to develop as life long learners and leaders in a global society in the Catholic tradition.
