Mrs. Crisci, Principal

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of the Camden Catholic families who came out on  Saturday night to celebrate our Ceilidh.  The evening was a great Irish celebration for the dedication and blessing of our new dining hall.  I would especially like to thank the Parents Association for all of their work in putting the evening together.

This week, I hope you join me in cheering on our Fighting Irish basketball teams as they begin the first week of playoffs.  Please see the newsletter for schedules.

This week we have an early release day on Monday.  Teachers will meet in professional learning teams after school.   Wednesday is a testing day for freshmen and sophomores.  There is no after school study hall  on Wednesday.

Finally, senior parents are reminded of the mandatory senior parent meeting on Wednesday, March 4.  We will meet at  7 pm in the auditorium.

Have a wonderful week,

STUDENT ABSENCES & EARLY DISMISSALS:  If your child is absent for three or more consecutive days, a doctor's note must accompany the CCHS absentee form.  Also, if your child requests an early dismissal or arrives to school late due to a doctor's appointment, he/she must submit a doctor's note to verify the lateness or early release.  Thank you for following up with the submission of these notes.

SHAKESPEARE CLUB COMPETES

The students competed in the 7th Annual DeSales University Shakespeare Competition. This is the home of the internationally renowned Shakespeare Festival. They competed against students in performing arts high schools and CCHS international student Minna Tang made the showcase.  Minna presented a monologue from Macbeth as Lady Macbeth.

All of our students received very high marks. Aidan McDonald, who participated in the competition with a monologue as the porter from Macbeth, and Claire Potosky and Alexis Branch were finalists in the STANJ competition.

The Arts Academy Parents Association will hold their next meeting on March 9 at 7:30 p.m.  This is a monthly meeting for the parents of students involved in the Arts at CCHS (band, dance, film, fine art, chorus, drama, etc.).

The MAIN purpose of these meetings are to support our talented kids and their amazing teachers with carrying out their visions. Our goal is to help out each art department in areas of organization, planning events, and striving towards success and growth which will enhance the overall experience for our children.

Please enter through the rear doors of the building near the band room.  If you are unable to make this meeting and would like to be a part of the association, please contact Lynn Guida  [email protected].

ACTION ALERT

Issue:      The ceiling for nonpublic school transportation, currently at $884.00 per pupil, has not been increased since the 2008-2009 school year.   As a result, nonpublic school students are losing

transportation services because of the costs incurred by districts and private contractors.

Action:     Please call, email, or write Governor Christie on a continuing basis between now and the release of his Budget in February to ask for this increase.  Please keep the following points in mind:

1.   Public school students living within the designated mileage limits are never denied a ride to school of enrollment.

2.    Nonpublic school students are dependent upon the bids submitted by public school districts and private contractors which do not exceed the $884.00 per pupil limit.

3.    In contacting Governor Christie's Office, please describe in detail your own stories with respect to nonpublic school transportation.

4.    Be courteous but firm in your request for this most important health and safety issue.

5.    A question and answer document is included with the Alert. Please feel free to use it as needed.
