STUDENT GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spirit Week Shirt Sales are this week.  All shirts are $10.  Forms were handed out in homeroom on Friday.  Extra order forms can be picked up in level moderator's rooms.  Shirt orders and money are due by Friday, October 16th.  The shirts will be worn at the Thanksgiving Pep Rally.  If a shirt is not purchased, the student must be in uniform that day.

October is Canned Food Month.  Students are asked to bring in canned goods in exchange for Spirit Week points.  The class who brings in the most cans will win the "big" bleachers for the Thanksgiving Pep Rally.  All of the food will be donated to the South Jersey Food Bank to help families in need.
Picture of the Week: Broadway Performer Visits CCHS

The Select Choir welcomed Broadway performer Kathleen Nanni to the classroom last Friday.
Ms. Nanni is a dancer, singer, actress and choreographer. She just finished a seven year run on Broadway as an original cast member in the production of Mary Poppins. Ms. Nanni taught about the audition process, spoke about her life as a professional performer and artist, and gave the students the encouragement and tools needed to achieve their dreams.

REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS: 

Special Privileges for the Class of 2016 :  The administration has approved of the following senior only privileges:
  • White Ankle Socks for Girls:  Senior girls may continue wearing white ankle, not the required CC, socks with the summer uniform.
  • Shorts for BoysOnly senior boys may wear knee length shorts on dress down days.
  • Halloween Costume Dress DayWEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28 -   Refer to dress protocol below.
  • Senior T-Shirt Day:  Seniors will be granted a senior t-shirt day in which they may wear their t-shirt with their uniform pants or kilts.  The date will be announced at a later time.
  • Senior Day Off:  The Class of 2016 may extend their Christmas holiday by one day.  Seniors do not have to report to school on Monday, January 4, 2016.
SENIOR HALLOWEEN COSTUME DAY - OCTOBER 28 - REGULATIONS
The Class of 2016 will be permitted to dress up in Halloween costumes on October 28.  They are expected to abide by the following stipulations.  A separate sheet with these directives will be forwarded to the senior homerooms for distribution to each senior.  Senior parents, thank you in advance for ensure that your child adheres to these published stipulations.  Any questions, please have your child see me in the Student Affairs Office. 
 
WE WANT INTERESTING COSTUMES.  STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE LEGITIMATE COSTUMES THAT CAN BE EASILY RECOGNIZED WITHOUT THE USE OF THE PROHIBITED ITEMS LISTED BELOW.   STUDENTS SHOULD CONSIDER DEVELOPING A THEME WITH THEIR FRIENDS OR DESIGN THEIR OWN UNIQUE & TASTEFUL COSTUME. 
 
UNACCEPTABLE COSTUME EXAMPLES:
                JEANS & A T-SHIRT - CLAIMING TO BE A PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENT
                ATHLETIC GEAR - CLAIMING TO BE A SPORTS FAN

  • MASKS OF ANY KIND/FACE PAINT THE COVERS YOUR WHOLE FACE
  • SWORDS, KNIVES, CLUBS, BOWS & ARROWS OR ANY OTHER WEAPONS
  • CLOTHING THAT DOES NOT COVER YOU APPROPRIATELY (TANK OR HALTER TOPS, BARE BACKS OR MIDRIFFS, OR TOGAS) OR THAT PROMOTES NEGATIVE RELIGIOUS, RACIAL OR POLITICAL TONES.
  • NO ROLLER BLADES, SKATE BOARDS, CARTS OR ANY TYPE OF VEHICLE
SENIORS SHOULD REMEMBER THEY ARE REPRESENTING THEIR CATHOLIC SCHOOL.  MODESTY & DECENCY ARE A MUST.  WE WANT THEM TO HAVE FUN NOT TO BE SENT HOME FOR AN INAPPROPRIATE COSTUME.

CANADA TRIP 
There are only a few spots still left for the Canada Trip (Quebec City for the Ice Festival).  The trip will be from February 12-16, 2016.  The cost of the trip is $999: 4 days/3 nights, all activities included, breakfast and dinner included.  For more information, please contact Mrs. Merenyi at  noemi.merenyi@camdencatholic.org.

Because the cost to send your student here is about $11,500 and tuition is $8,500, we rely on these fundraisers to help keep tuition costs down.  Please complete the survey to help the Parent's Association understand your interests to have successful fundraisers.

PSAT:
The PSAT will be given on October 14.  This test is a practice SAT which helps students become familiar with the format and timing of the SAT. Juniors take this test in the Spring, 2016.
The freshman will take the PSAT 9/10 and  the sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT. This will be the first time the students will be seeing the changes in the new SAT.  
Juniors, this is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship.
Please encourage your student to look over the practice guide and sample test that was given to them in their homerooms on October 1 and 2. 

The Kaplan Program is running a FREE PSAT Cram Session register at  kaptest.com/psatcram.

Camden Catholic is offering a FREE New SAT vs. ACT Practice Test on November 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Arrive at 7:45 a.m. Please register at  http://kaplan.formstack.com/forms/newsat_act_pt_cchs.

Senior Parents:  Please encourage your student to be listing the colleges they are applying to on Family Connection.  Deadlines for college applications are approaching, please check out your students college application deadlines so not to miss them.  
Remember that SAT/ACT scores must be sent by the student to their colleges.  These can be requested from College Board and ACT. 
BASEBALL PARENTS CLUB MEETING
All parents of baseball players, including freshmen, are invited to the first meeting of the Baseball Parents Club on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. The meeting should last one hour or less. Please contact Al Nanni with questions: [email protected] -or- 856-296-1691.
YEARBOOK ANNOUNCEMENT
The 2014/2015 yearbooks are in and we still have some for sale! The book can be bought in the library for $95. 

The 2015/2016 yearbooks are for sale. This year, the book will come out in June and you can order your child's copy now for only $75.  Please go to  www.jostensyearbooks.com  now to order your book- the price will go up to $85 in November.  Seniors receive a book as part of their graduation fee and do not need to order a 15/16 book. All seniors will receive a yearbook at the senior breakfast this year. If you have ordered a book online, your credit card will be refunded.

WHAT IS PROJECT GRADUATION?
Project Graduation is a post-Baccalaureate event for our graduating seniors, and is an annual tradition at CCHS. The Parents Association and the Project Graduation Committee raise money throughout the year to provide a fun evening that is safe, secure and alcohol-free. This year's event will be held at the FunPlex in Mt. Laurel. Parents of students in all grades (not just seniors!) are invited to join the Project Graduation Committee. The next meeting is Monday, October 19th and the first fundraiser is the Fall Clothing and Toy Drive, Saturday, October 24th 7:30 to 1:00 in the CCHS parking lot.

St. Rose of Lima Athletic Committee is looking for high school volunteers to help out during our basketball games this season (Dec - Feb).  The games are usually  Friday evening from 6-9.  You may be asked to babysit, sell concessions or help with crowd control.  Email if you are interested to Sally Knapp at  [email protected].
AUDITIONS
The Arts at CCHS is holding a GENERAL OPEN CALL AUDITION for all students interested in performing in the Spring Musical. Rehearsals for the musical (which has not yet been chosen) will begin in January. 

Performances - March 10, 11, 12, 18, 19 @ 7:30 & March 13, 20 @ 2:30

AUDITION INFORMATION
WHEN: Saturday, October 17th | 12:00 pm
WHERE: Grandi Auditorium at CCHS
WHO: Any CCHS student interested in the performing arts
PREPARE: Please be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song. An accompanist will be provided. If you do not have sheet music, a capellasinging will be permitted. Be prepared to dance. This means loose fitting clothing (exercise clothing) and sneakers or dance/character shoes. Anyone who has them should bring tap shoes.
