FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents:

Many thanks to all of you who came out to our annual Back to School Night.  I was very happy to see you here and hope that you had a great evening meeting your student's teachers.  Keep in mind that the relationships that your students develop with their teachers and the work that they do in school not only helps them while they are here, but also after graduation.  Encourage them to be active learners in the classroom.  Encourage them to talk to their teachers.  Encourage them to work with their peers.  The skills that they learn here at CCHS help them to develop the skills they need to be successful leaders in our global society.  Start the conversation at home about school, their interests, and what they want to do in the future.  This helps them to plan and be prepared.

In terms of academics, September 22 is the first Edline posting day.  Please take a look at your students' classes and progress.  It is early in the quarter--you may only see one or two grades.  You and your students should stay on top of progress throughout the year celebrating successes and encouraging them to get help from teachers whenever needed.

CCHS is also excited to be celebrating our first all school Mass of the 2014-15 school year with Bishop Sullivan on Monday.  Bishop will be here on September 22 to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit with our school community.  We are blessed to have this opportunity and thankful that Bishop will be with us.

As always, thank you for your support of our work at CCHS.

Sincerely,
Heather Crisci
Principal

Parent Drop Off Lane: Parents who drop off or pick up their students are reminded to pull to the top of the drop off lane before stopping to have your child exit/enter the vehicle. Failure to pull to the top of the drop off lane is causing traffic congestion in the parking lot that extends onto Cuthbert. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in avoiding a major traffic problem on Cuthbert Road.

Detention: The first school detention of the 2014-2015 school year will be held on Thursday, September 25 from 2:45 until 5:00 pm. Students who have accumulated 10 or more demerits between the start of the school year and Wednesday, September 24 will receive official paperwork indicating they have detention. Parents are asked to review the Individual Discipline Report to understand what infractions resulted in the accumulation of 10+ demerits. Additionally, please sign the detention notice and have your child return only the white copy of the notice to Student Affairs Office (Room 114) before homeroom on Thursday morning.

Go 4 the Goal Dress Down Day: Friday, September 26 is the annual Go4theGoal Dress Down day in support of pediatric cancer. Students wishing to participate must adhere to the Relaxed Dress
Code regulations (refer to the Student Handbook found on Edline) and wear a gold, yellow, or any
Go4theGoal t-shirt, sweatshirt, sweater, etc. The cost of the dress down is $3.00. Homeroom teachers will collect the money. Students not wishing to participate must wear their school uniform.

Ring Balances: A representative from Herff-Jones will be at all lunches on Wednesday, September 24 to collect ring balances. Please remind your child to see the representative if you owe a ring balance.

Portraits: Senior Portrait retakes & Underclassmen photos will be taken next week. Senior portrait retakes will be on October 1 and 2; underclassmen photos will be October 2. Mrs. Murphy has sent information to the homerooms. If students have questions about pictures, please direct them to Mrs. Murphy in the Library.

Teenline

Fall Training Begins Tuesday, October 14th

TeenLine volunteers must be committed to providing a safe place where other teens can call and talk confidentially. TeenLine volunteers remain anonymous and receive 15 hours of training including basic active listening skills and topics covering issues relevant to today's teenagers focusing on how to identify them and how to help. Teen  volunteers commit to four or more hours a month during the school year when TeenLine is operational. A CONTACT Crisis Helpline Specialist is always available to provide support and guidance  to the TeenLine volunteer and assistance, if needed, for any crisis  intervention. When on duty, TeenLine volunteers  also provide response to CONTACT's KidsLine, a warm line for elementary  school children.
