FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents:

I hope that your students had a great day at their orientation.  The CCHS faculty and staff are happy to welcome so many smiling faces back to our halls.  As we begin this school year, we have already found our students excited about the new challenges that await them this school year.  We are so happy that our students strive for excellence in their endeavors, and we thank you for the support you provide for your students and for us.  I think this is going to be another great year for CCHS.

As we move into the first full week of classes, I have a few reminders and information for you:

1.  Set up your Edline account.  Students and parents have separate accounts; both should be active,  Edline is our primary means of communication.  We will post bulletins and notices under "News" or "Contents".  This information is for you in our school community,  We will also have the most updated calendar information here.  Even if you have already set up your account, please be sure to check that your contact information is up to date.

2.  Back to School Night is September 18 from 7-9 pm.  While this is not a night for individual conferences, this is a great way for you to learn about the teacher's expectations in each of your student's classes.  I hope to see all families there.  The evening will start in the auditorium.

3.  Our College Night is Tuesday, September 9 from 7-9 pm.  The Guidance Office sponsors this great event here, and over 150 colleges attend.  The evening is open to all students.  Please park in the back lot and enter through the gym doors.

4.  Our Parents' Association will have their opening meeting on Wednesday September 10 at 7 pm.  All parents are invited to attend.  We rely on parent volunteers to make our events like Designer Bag Bingo, Canvas Concoctions, and Project Graduation happen.  Bring your great ideas to this group!

5.  Friday, September 12 is our first home football game, and we also have a couple of special events for our Freshmen.  Freshmen will have a BBQ in the courtyard--info will come to them during homeroom.  Freshmen parents are invited to our new dining hall to mingle and enjoy a casual evening together.  For the parents, we ask that you bring a dish to share or a case of water/soda.  The students will be taken care of at their BBQ.  After our social time, everyone can stay to cheer on the Irish as they take on Cumberland in our home opener.

Have a wonderful week,

Heather Crisci
Principal

NEWS FROM THE FOOTBALL TEAM

Jordan Jefferson '16 and Anthony Richardson '16 attended USA Football's National Team Development Games in Towson, Maryland in July. Jordan and Anthony had the opportunity to earn a roster spot on the U.S. National Team that will compete against Canada in the 2015 International Bowl, scheduled for February in Dallas.

The U.S. National Development Games are the key evaluation event for the national team selection. The program was built to allow the best athletes across the county to compete on the field in order to gain exposure, develop their skills and fundamentals and compete for a spot on the U.S. National Team.

Coach Strom and the football team were an instrumental part of the Help Henry See and Hear event this summer (see below photo). " I am not sure that we could have 'pulled it off' as well as we did without them...The team proudly represented CCHS. They were cooperative, polite, respectful and hardworking," said parent and volunteer coordinator Traci Wright. The event was covered by NBC10 and FOX29.
