So many of us are blessed to either play a musical instrument or know a loved one or friend that does. For some, it's fun relying on the timeless old joke describing our musical ability... "I only play the radio". That is often then followed by, "but I love music though and go to concerts all the time". Music is simply one of the greatest bed rocks of civilization from past to future. Music stands in as a profound association for the biggest and most memorable moments of our lives. So, courage and fearlessness is a surprising attribute we don't always ascribe to 10 or 11-year-olds. Our newsletter article this month, written by our friend Amy Rever-Oberle, is a fun reminder of what it is like to face Day 1 as a young beginning musician or re-commitment to music as an adult. That is starting, without fear, learning to play an instrument as foreign to a beginner as a moon rock in public in front of others.
It seems all the musicians seem to have at least one champion in their life. That is a person that encourages and supports their musical interest from Day 1. We can all take a moment to thank those that have encouraged and taught us along the way. And for those that only play the radio... Thank you.
