From the Principal's Desk
Dear BSS Families,

Yesterday was the installation of Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama. The Mass at the Cathedral of His Holy Name of Jesus was a poignant ceremony. In his homily, Bishop Zarama spoke about "God is love" and his commitment to the people of the Diocese of Raleigh.  Our prayers to our Bishop Zarama as he oversees an estimated Catholic population of 500,000.

Mrs. Gomez

Children's Rosaries
If your child would like to help recite the rosary before Saturday's 5:00 P.M. Mass (at 4:30) please let me know and I will give your name to Mrs. Tayn, who coordinates the children's rosary before Mass.

Dismissal
Thank you so much for not parking in the lot during dismissal. It is very much appreciated. Now for my second request please do not park on the other side of the street during pick-up.  It blocks already a narrow street and it is not fair for the parents who follow dismissal procedure. Thank you for your cooperation.

Morning Drop Off/Afternoon Dismissal Reminders

Morning Drop Off: Coach Eggleston and Mr. Felix Cartas will be out front to assist with student drop off. Please remember that  students are only to exit the car on the right side.  Car doors must not open into the street as it is not safe for students to exit the car this way since a car may be passing you on the left.

Students are not to be dropped off at the sidewalk in the school parking lot.  If you enter the parking lot it is to park and accompany your student into the building.  Any other student drop off must take place at the front sidewalk with the adults.

Afternoon Pick Up: Our faculty and staff work to ensure that afternoon pick up moves as smoothly, safely, and quickly as possible.  In order for this to be possible, we ask the following:

1.  ALL cars must have a car sign in place on the rear view mirror.  Car signs were distributed at Unpack and Peek or sent home the first day if you did not attend Unpack and Peek.
2.  Students may no longer be picked up at the dismissal door.  If you and your child are walking home please stand out at the front side walk in eyesight of the faculty member at the dismissal door.
This year no cars will exit the parking lot on to High Street/Hillcrest Avenue until the dismissal line is complete.  Cars exiting the parking lot slows down dismissal.

Reserved Spots
The first in line at pick up and a reserved parking spot are both sold at our annual Night for the Knights.  The first in line is designated at just by the front steps and the reserved parking spot is pictured below.  Please note that these spots are only to be used by the families made this purchase.  Our 2018 Night for the Knights is Saturday, March 17th.  Online auction items up for grabs in early 2018.

Thank you for assisting us in drop-off and dismissal procedures.  Please remember that the safety of your children is our top priority.
From the Admissions & Advancement Office

Third Graders STREAM into the year!
Third graders ended their summer by reading Jerry Spinelli's book, Third Grade Angels.  This week students worked in teams to compete their Halo projects.
