-New this year!  Students in 5th-8th grade will receive recognition for School Spelling Bee, Math Crunchers, AYLA participation, 3rd Trimester STREAM Award, and Academic Honors.  In addition, students in eighth grade will receive recognition for Student Council Participation and receive the Briggs Service Award and Scholar Athlete Award.

Wednesday, May 31st
LAST DAY FOR LITTLE KNIGHTS & MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Little Knights End of Year Picnic, 10:00 a.m. at City Park
-Little Knights and their families will meet at City Park at 10:00 a.m. for the End of Year Picnic.  Students will release from City Park at 12:00 p.m. and this is the last day of school for Little Knights.

Fifth-Seventh Grade 2nd Annual Dodge Ball Tournament & Ice Cream Sundae Party, 1:00 p.m.

Eighth Grade Mass & Middle School Awards, 6:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church
-All middle school students are asked to attend.  During the Middle School awards we will recognize 5th-7th grade recipients of the Geography Bee Award, Taffy Young Award, Volunteer Award, and Citizenship Award.
-Eighth grade awards include Knights of Columbus Patriotism Award, Knights of Columbus Citizenship Award, Charlotte and Charles Maye Award, Leonard Tyll Sportsmanship Award, Pastor's Award, and the Principal's Award.

ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE THEIR FINAL REPORT CARD AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE GRADUATION AND AWARDS.

Thursday, June 1st

-Kindergarten students will dismiss for the school year with their family after the reception.

Parents, if you are looking for tutoring services over the summer and during the coming school year, there are a number of tutors at the school whom you can contact for more information. Spring Photo Orders
Proofs and order forms were in last Wednesday's weekly envelope.  Photo orders are due 
to 
the office by  May 11.   After that date, orders will only be accepted online, with a late fee of $10.00 and will then  be mailed directly to the student/parent.
  
Teacher Appreciation Week
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gifts, treats, flowers, love, and appreciation we were shown during Teacher Appreciation Week.  The support of our parents means so much to us!  A special thank you to Mrs. Beth Fitzgerald and her team for organizing the week and seeing that we were pampered and spoiled!

Annual Goodwill Challenge is HERE! 
The Goodwill truck is in the school parking lot and remains available for donations through Friday, May 19th.  The truck will be unlocked each morning and we can accept anything that you'd drop to a local donation center. Thank you for your support and donations!




Student Council Election Details
Time Line for Elections
1. By Thursday, May 11th-Declare the office you are pursuing and select your campaign manager.  Notify Mrs. Kearney in writing by 12:00 noon.

2. Monday, May 15th through Thursday, May 18th-Campaign Week  
Speeches need to be given to Mrs. Kearney by Monday, May 22nd for approval!

3. Wednesday, May 24th-Speeches will be presented to grades 4-8 after flag raising.

4. Wednesday, May 24th-Voting by grades 4-7 will take will take place after the speeches.  

5. Winners will be announced at the end of the Election Day.  ALL CAMPAIGN POSTERS MUST BE REMOVED BY THE END OF THE DAY, Wednesday, May 24th.

Dear Parents,

The last two days have been a whirlwind of splendid events. We began on Tuesday morning with our Grandparents and Special Friends Day and ended that night with Spring Sing that rocked! This morning we honored Mary with May Crowning.  BSS is truly a special place with great faculty, family/friends, and students.

Congratulations to the Bishop McGuinness Girls Soccer Team! Champions of  the NW Conference and now begin the road to the State Championship!  Please come out to our home game and second round of the state playoff on this Saturday, May 13th to root on your Lady Villains and Blessed Sacrament  Alumni, Nina Corcoran.

Summer Class Gatherings
Please contact the Admissions Office if you are willing to serve as host or hostess this summer for a class play date or movie night!  This play date can be at the school playground or a local park and the movie night at BSS.  I'll provide the snack and beverages if you'll serve as the friendly and welcoming face of the event!  I'm looking for hosts or hostesses for preschool through third grade play dates and 4th grade through 8th grade movie nights.  Email [email protected] for questions or to set a date!

BSS is hosting the PECSAA Golf Tournament today at 1:00 p.m. at Shamrock Golf Course in Burlington.
Golfers representing BSS in the tournament are Garrett Schmiederer, Timothy Hackman, Abigail May, Joey Leupold, Christopher Cafasso, and Karsten Palmer. Go Knights!

Western Alamance High School is offering a volleyball camp  June 12th to June 15th .  It is from  8am to Noon .  Cost is $125 per participant.
