Elon's I Am That Girl Program Presents to BSS Middle School Girls
Blessed Sacrament School partnered with Elon University’s chapter of  I Am That Girl.   This organization provides leadership, social and personal development for girls. On Friday,March 2, Elon students (girls), who are members of the organization held a workshop for our 7 th  and 8 th  grade girls and on Friday, March 9, the workshop was held for 5 th  and 6 th  grade girls.  The three topics that discussed were: bullying, body image, and healthy relationships. It was a wonderful opportunity for our girls to learn to have a voice, know how to treat themselves and each other, so they can be well-rooted in their self-worth.

HOLLY HILL MALL
10AM - 5PM

BSS looks forward to returning to the 2018 Burlington Maker Faire! Students in preschool through 8th grade are hard at work on classroom and group projects.

One of the things that always makes our school display stand out is the representation from our students on site to discuss their projects. We hope that students from each grade will attend this year and share the news about their STREAM process and final Maker Faire projects.

Prayer Requests
Dear BSS Community,

I believe that the book fair is on the top ten list of favorites at BSS. When the younger students saw the MPR converted into a world of books, they chanted, “Books, books, books.” Some stood at the door and stared. Yesterday, during preview day, the wish list of books grew very long! How wonderful to see this love of reading.

I hope you can join on Thursday, March 23 for Family Fun Night. You may see some “paws” for reading friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Gomez
From the Principal's Desk
Please pray for those affected by another school tragedy at Great Mills High School in Maryland.

Remember, Erynn Warren, sister of Elias (3 rd) as she recovers from a burn accident.

Please remember in your prayers, Jeremy Sears, uncle to Kierstyn (7 th) and brother of Mrs. Kelso, as he undergoes surgery on Thursday.

Prayers for our 7 th grade team as they compete this Friday at the North Carolina Student Academy of Science State Competition.

Classroom Connections
AYLA in Action
Our Alamance Youth Leadership Academy (AYLA) seventh and eighth graders met at school Sunday and built the new raised beds for our outdoor classroom.
The raised beds are made possible because of a grant BSS received earlier this year. This is the first step in our new outdoor garden!
Pi Day
Students from Mrs. Hipps sixth and seventh grade math classes tried to see how many digits of pi they could "chain" together. Each color on the chain represents a digit 0-9, with black symbolizing the decimal point. Students also explored the ratio between circumference and diameter of a circle and discovered their birthdays position in pi.
Making Music Together at Mass
Last week our usual student musicians were joined during Mass by three special guests. Little Knights Bays Bruton, Hampton Bruton and Colton Troutman joined eighth grader Ali Orozco-Rosaldo and seventh grader Caden Troutman. The quintet provided musical accompaniment during our weekly Mass.
Middle School Math teacher, Mrs. Sebastian enjoys an opportunity to engage with our younger Knights during morning duty.

Showing at the Paramount Theater on March 24th:
$12 General Admission
$9 for Children & Students

Moon Mouse ”, Lightwire Theater’s “black light/laser special effects, a cosmic adventure about celebrating differences”, is coming to the Paramount Theater, Saturday, March 24. Showtimes for the productions, part of the “Anniversaries Year” celebration of The Paramount, are set for 2PM and 7PM.

This, kid-centric, family-friendly show is sure to thrill audiences as this special-effects packed feature deviates from audiences are used to experiencing at the theater. Rolling Stone calls the show “Absolutely Incredible” and TV Guide exclaimed that “Their captivating combination of dance, puppetry, and lighting earned Lightwire a standing ovation.”

Marvin the Mouse wants to be popular. Constantly bullied and picked on by the “cool rats”, he is labeled as a loser and a geek. As a respite from the continuous badgering, Marvin retreats into his science books and a world of fantasy. He longs to have adventures and be the hero. He takes the outer space adventure of a lifetime: a trip to the surface of the moon on his homemade rocket, where he meets a string cast of misfit creatures, learns of infinite peril, and views awesome beauty. Will Marvin make his dreams come true and experience the glory and acceptance he craves?
