Directed By:
Stacie Passon

From executive producer Rose Troche and writer-director Stacie Passon, this funny, sexy and compelling mix of BELLE DE JOUR and THE STEPFORD WIVES follows suburban lesbian housewife Abby (Robin Weigert, "Deadwood", THE SESSIONS) through an erotic epiphany after suffering a head injury. In the immediate aftermath, she questions whether her picture-perfect family life is enough and decides to revive her career and renovate a loft in New York City. But the space quickly transforms itself into a convenient location for an unexpected sexual reawakening. CONCUSSION had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The LA Female Playwright's Initiative:
FPI badge

FPI Meeting
The Los Angeles Female Playwright's Initiative (LAFPI) is an LA-based movement working toward fair representation of women playwrights on stage.  Founded in 2010 by playwrights Laura Shamus and Jennie Webb, the group immediately got to work by conducting a study of LA theater that confirmed that Los Angeles was on par with the rest of the country in that only 20% of the works being produced in theater were written by women.

Most certainly in line with the work of The LA Women's Theatre Project (LAWTP), the two are joining forces to establish an Ad-Hoc Committee, headed by LAWTP Cofounder and Artistic Director Dee Jae Cox, to explore the barriers and solutions in working towards gender parity in Los Angeles Theatre.

Join us for this exciting discussion and recruitment of committee members!

"TAKING THE HELM"
FISCAL SPONSORSHIP &
PRODUCTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Our Fiscal Sponsorship Program was established in order to develop and support women in independent stage, film and event productions. The Program fulfills this mission by offering fiscal sponsorship to film, stage and event projects that meet the organization's criteria and mission.  And by providing independent project Producers with valuable, ongoing support. With an estimated 20% of live productions and  films being written and/or directed by women, it is crucial to develop support and assistance programs that will allow more women to helm Production projects. These stage and film projects reflect The LA Women's Theatre Project's commitment to outreach and development of both emerging and established women writers, performers and directors in a broad spectrum of performing arts
