Stamp out hunger
this Saturday

Stamp Out Hunger
Simply leave non-perishable food items at your mailbox this Saturday, May 12th and a union letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to local food pantries. You can also volunteer,
learn more below. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka backs the drive and asked the labor federation's affiliates, state federations and central labor councils to join the union letter carriers in promoting and conducting the event."With America still reeling with devastating unemployment, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive comes at a critical time," he said. "With the support of unions all across America, the NALC can set a record in collections, helping those who have lost their jobs in this economy and the millions more facing economic uncertainty."

The Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO is asking for local unions to supply volunteers to sort, collect and distribute food items both on May 12th thru May 16th, as collection efforts are expected to yield thousands of pounds of food. Food will be sorted at 60 Heartland Blvd in Brentwood. Please contact James Egan at (631) 454-2330 ext. 117 to volunteer. This volunteer effort is a good thing to do with your kids. Make sure to wear your Local 66 shirts. Expect to get a little dirty.

Reminder: Union Office Nominations
All positions for union office are up for nominations. There is a meeting at the union hall in Melville today at 5:00 pm - Friday, May 11th.

Workers Memorial MassA couple of photos of Local 66 at the Workers Memorial Mass in Bay Shore were just posted on our website. Good work to all who attended and God Bless all we lost on the job this past year. We enjoyed some good food at Molly Malone's on the water after the Mass with the other unions who attended. We look forward to next year's Mass and let us all recommit ourselves to workplace safety.
