Full-Time Ministry

Jordan Hargrave
Headed to Oasis

Riverbender Jordan Hargrave, who grew up in this church and has served on the praise team for several years, has accepted the call to become full-time Praise & Worship Leader at nearby Oasis Church of Ormond Beach. He will be at Riverbend one more Sunday and begin his role at Oasis on Monday, July 24.

"It is so bittersweet to leave Riverbend because it is our family. Hope and I have spent most of our lives at Riverbend, but we feel God is leading us," said Jordan. "I've been serving under and assisting Heyward Evans for several years, and for the past two or three years, I have felt God pushing in this direction. I so appreciate Pastor Rick (Cobb) and his counsel through this process. He and Heyward have been great mentors."

Pastor Rick praised Jordan for his faithfulness to Riverbend's music ministry for many years: "He is a gifted and versatile young musician whose heart is to minister to the needs of people. I can foresee Jordan having a great ministry in music for many years to come. What a great opportunity for him!"

"We are excited to have Jordan as part of our staff," said Oasis Senior Pastor Marcus Buckley, a former Riverbender. "He is exceptionally gifted and passionate about being used by God to minister to others. It's a little ironic to me that I got my start in ministry at Riverbend under Pastor Roy (Hargrave) and Pastor Rick, and now Pastor Roy's son is getting his start in full-time music ministry working with me."

'The Journey 2017'

Some 100 Riverbend youth, plus about 30 leaders, are heading to Black Mountain, N.C., during July 23-28 for the church's annual Summer Camp.  They will be joined by youth from six other churches in four states for some dynamic Biblical teaching and some meaningful fellowship and recreation.

Speakers at the five-day event are Michael Harsch, Riverbend's Pastor of Outreach & Family Ministries, and Nick Ely, Director of Next Generation Ministries at Harvest Bible Chapel in Chandler, Ariz.

Please pray for the youth, their leaders and the full slate of activities scheduled by Youth Ministry Leader Aaron Johnsen and Assistant Seth Shealy.

The other six churches: Berachah Bible Church of Jonesboro, Ga.; Flint Reformed Baptist Church of Albany, Ga.; Grace Heritage Church of Auburn, Ala.; Harvest Bible Chapel of Hickory, N.C.; Northside Baptist Church of North Fort Myers, Fla.; and Sunrise Community Church of Atlantic Beach, Fla.
