Parks and Recreation Commission
|
Thank you to all the community members and members of S.E.A.R.C.H., a geocaching club, who came out to Johnsontown Park on Saturday to clean up the park. The rain held off just long enough to get most of the park picked up. As mentioned by geocache member NoBlueCircles on the S.E.A.R.C.H blog, "probably the two most notable items I saw were a television from under a bridge, and a large piece of plastic I dragged to the disposal point. Along the way we chatted with some familiar faces, met some newer cachers, and got a couple of caches in the park as well. The Downingtown Parks personnel were very friendly and helpful - and snacks and coffee was graciously provided." Echoing those comments was moocher2notyou, "Job well done by everyone - and the friendliest Parks And Rec crew ever!"
We too wish to thank you the Parks and Rec crew that joined the Geocachers in the cleanup. Chris Brenenborg and his son, Kate Steakhouse and her son, and Ryan Handforth. We also thank Mayor Maxwell for joining us as well.
Park and Rec's next event is the annual
All Wheels Consignment Sale from 9 - 12 on May 13th in Kerr Park. People wanting to consign a bike for sale are welcomed to drop it off beginning at 8:00 am by the skate park. All recreation wheels are welcomed to be dropped off. There is a $100 price cap for consigning a bike. 25% of the proceeds of all sales will go the park and recreation commission for future activities. There will be a Bike Safety presentation, skateboarding exhibition and a DJ with games for the kids. Stop by the farmers market and then visit our event across the street.
