Family Missions Day - Saturday, October 28
cache_halloween.jpg
Everyone is invited to participate in our projects this month. Our family friendly project will be to pack backpacks for the Appalachian Christmas Outreach . We will meet at HIllSong to sort donated items, write cards for the children, and ensure every backpack is packed with love and the necessary items. HillSong children will have specific tasks suitable for them in this process. Stay afterwards for Trunk or Treat in the HillSong parking area. Costumes are welcome and participating children should bring a bag or bucket.
  The schedule is as follows:
-- 9:30-11:00am: sorting and packing backpacks
-- 11:00-11:30am: Trunk or Treat (rain location in Worship center)

For our other project, the Fusion Youth and some of our 'handy' adults will be off-site building a handicap ramp project

How can you get involved?
  • Come to church to pack backpacks
  • Volunteer to build the handicap ramp
  • Donate items for Appalachian Christmas Outreach.
  • Volunteer to bring candy, play-doh, or other allergy friendly items to give out for Trunk or Treat. (We would like 20 people/cars to participate!).

Fall Workday
Saturday, October 14

Appalachian Christmas Outreach - now to October 29

We are collecting items to fill backpacks for the children of Appalachia. If you would like to help contribute, consider bringing a portion of what's needed for 30 backpacks.
  • This Sunday, you are encouraged to bring in School Supplies appropriate for children 3-5y, 6-9y or 10-14y and Fresh Wrapped Candy (no chocolate please, as it may melt). Stay tuned for what to bring on future Sundays.
  • You can also contribute money. We will need around $500 to purchase the backpacks and Bibles (checks made out to HillSong Church, with 'Appalachian Outreach' in memo line).
  • We need at least one driver to deliver the backpacks to a regional distribution center on Nov. 4th. Please contact the church office (919.967.3056) if you can help.
Children's Ministry NEEDS HELP

Teaching the children is allowing God to teach you! It's a true commitment and a true blessing. These children need YOU! Consider teaching Toddler Sunday School or being a nursery caregiver during Sunday School.

Volunteers are also needed to serve during Worship (10:50am-12:15pm) in our Toddler class and in the nursery. Serve one Sunday a month. Contact Heather if you want to benefit from this rewarding experience and serve the children of this church, too!

Host a Chinese International Friend
thanksgiving-dinner.jpg
It won't be long before we'll be gathering with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. This very American holiday provides a delicious opportunity to introduce our customs to new Chinese friends who have been visiting HillSong. Many of them are in the United States as visiting scholars and are quite interested in having true American experiences. What better way to introduce our culture than by sharing a televised parade or football game and eating turkey with all the trimmings?  For more information or to sign up to be a host, contact Beth Roberts (919-967-6674) by Sunday, October 29th. Please indicate the number of guests you would like to host.

Meals for Refuge

Refuge is HillSong's ministry to young adults. These young adults make lasting connections and faith discoveries while sharing a meal together on Monday nights. We need more people to prepare or pvide meals for this ministry.

If you would like to cook or purchase a meal for Refuge please sign up here.

A Time to Pray - from Pastor Rob
Prayer Circle
We read these words in the Old Testament wisdom literature.
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. (Ecc 3:1)
If this were read in church, the reader would conclude by saying, " The word of God for the People of God," and the congregation would respond, " Amen."
Here are the next seven verses:
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
With the word of God teaching us there different times and seasons, in what season do we currently find ourselves - we people of the world - we the human race? Is this the "time to hate?" Or, "the time to kill," as in kill the evildoers? Read more
