Mid-century modern homes in the news
ranch house

Major news outlets have, of late, been picking up on something that we've known for years--modern architecture (think ranch houses, pink tiled bathrooms, Donuts Delite) is cool! More importantly, a lot of these "Recent Past" resources are now historic, meaning they are 50 years old or more. Check out some of these recent articles and resources:

  • NY Times - Restoring the Retro House
  • Wall Street Journal - Fans Seek to Preserve Ranch Houses Note: this article has one major error in it--listing a property in the National Register does not restrict what private property owners can do with their properties.
  •  Retro Renovation - a great blog resource for everything related to mid-century interiors
  • Save the Pink Bathrooms - Brought to you by the same folks who run Retro Renovation, this is a fun website devoted to celebrating and advocating for the retention of the often-maligned 1940s-60s pink bathroom.
  • Atomic Ranch - a gorgeous magazine for the ranch house enthusiast
If you have a mid-century home or funky "retro" interior that you'd like to share, send a picture our way
