Welcome to the 1st Edition of The Latest Score

Now that I have two full months under my belt as Executive Director of your Wyoming Soccer Association (WSA), I wanted to create a consistent monthly communication to keep everyone in the loop as to what is happening in the world of soccer.  Well, this is it... The Latest Score.  This publication will cover the latest from US Youth Soccer, WSA updates, upcoming events; whether coaching courses, referee clinics, tournaments, etc., and a section to highlight some of our players.  Please peruse at your leisure, and clubs are welcome to provide information they feel should be included in future publications.  Ideas, helpful tips, club events, etc. are all welcome, and I am happy to share it with the membership on your behalf.

For those of you who have contacted me personally over the past couple months - thank you! These questions, concerns and conversations have been the best opportunities for me to dive in and learn.  I still have a long way to go (and feel it will probably be that way for the duration of this first year), but I am making progress and learning something new EVERY day.   Thank you for your patience - and know that I am here to help in any way I can.  I may  not be able to provide an immediate answer, but I will get back to you.

Again, welcome to The Latest Score.  Enjoy the rest of your week, and happy reading!

Best,

Lisa Hulshizer
Executive Director
Wyoming Soccer Association

The Latest from US Youth Soccer

Annual General Meeting Outcomes

US Youth Soccer members, including Wyoming Soccer Association, voted this past month at its Annual General Meeting to amend the Association's bylaws and adopt changes to the current governance structure.  In a near-unanimous decision, US Youth Soccer members voted to realign the structure of its regional operations by replacing the volunteer-elected Regional Chair and Vice-Chair positions with professionally hired staff. This landmark decision transitions all administrative, financial, programmatic and operational functions from the four Regions of US Youth Soccer to the National office and under the purview and authority of the US Youth Soccer CEO.

"Our 55 member State Associations and Board of Directors have spoken and, through their vote, have given us a clear mandate to strategically transform our business model to become more growth-oriented and customer-focused in order to meet the evolving demands of today's soccer marketplace," said Chris Moore, CEO of US Youth Soccer.

The National Council of US Youth Soccer also voted to maintain the Regional geography as defined in the bylaws, for competition purposes, and retain four Regional Councils that will serve as an advisory body to provide input and inform regional-level programming. The Regional Councils will also continue to nominate and elect a representative to serve on the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors.

From its humble beginnings in 1974 with just more than 100,000 registered players to its current registration of more than 3,000,000 players between the ages of five and nineteen, US Youth Soccer has always been recognized as a leader in youth sports organizations. US Youth Soccer is the largest member of the United States Soccer Federation, the governing body for soccer in the United States, and is made up of over 600,000 volunteers and administrators, and over 300,000 dedicated coaches, most of who also are volunteers.

We are excited to offer a traditional program that allows players to attend the full training program (6 sessions), the Choose 3 program where players/families can pick the training dates that best fit their schedule, and now a single session option where players/families can choose to attend individual sessions that meet their needs without committing to the entire season.  For complete information on the ODP program, please click here.
