CALL FOR APPLICATIONS : THO NONRESIDENT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
THO is pleased to announce the call for applications for its 2018-19 Nonresident Fellowship Program .

Starting in September 2018, successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to constructive dialogue surrounding U.S.-Turkey relations and Turkey’s role in the international community. We encourage graduate students, young researchers and professionals, and practitioners with a special interest in U.S.-Turkey relations to apply. Specific areas of interest include (but are not limited to): security, education, humanitarian aid and refugee issues, energy, economy, technology, citizen diplomacy, and international exchange.

THO announces new Advisory Board members
We are pleased to announce two new Advisory Board members.
Dr. Roger Owen is a Professor of History, Emeritus at Harvard University. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Academy of International and Area Studies. He served as Harvard’s first A.J. Meyer Professor of Middle East History between 1993 and 2013. Dr. Owen’s visiting professorships have included the American University at Cairo (1975), the University of California at Berkeley (1982), and the University of Texas at Austin (1990). He received his D.Phil. from St. Anthony’s College at Oxford (1965) and his B.A. from Magdalen College at Oxford (1959).
Dr. Herbert Reginbogin, Professor of International Relations and International Law, has been a faculty member at several universities on both sides of the Atlantic. He has taught at Touro Law School (New York), the European University of Lefke (Cyprus), Bogazici University (Turkey), Cag University (Turkey), Potsdam University (Germany), and Kehl University am Rhein (Germany), in addition to guest lecturing at other institutions of higher learning around the world. He received his Licentiatus Philosophiae/Ph.D. from the University of Bern and his B.A. from Whittier College.
THO hosts teleconference on the Trump administration’s steel tariffs
On April 10, THO hosted a teleconference on “ The Trump Administration’s Tariffs on Steel Imports: What’s Next for U.S.-Turkey Trade Relations .”

The teleconference was moderated by THO Executive Director  Yenal Kucuker  and featured insights from Kerem Cakir  (Spokesperson for the Turkish Steel Exporters Association) and Dr. Gary Clyde Hufbauer ( Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics).
THO continues outreach to U.S. Congress
THO is continuing its outreach to members of the U.S. Congress. Recently, THO President Ali Cinar met with Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) and with Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC).
