THO’S STATEMENT ON THE FULL RESUMPTION OF VISA SERVICES
Turkish Heritage Organization is pleased with the official announcement regarding the full resumption of visa services in Turkey and the U.S. Travel restrictions, which were abruptly announced in early October, came at a critical time when U.S.-Turkey bilateral relations were already strained.

It is important to note that both governments have maintained and engaged in constructive discussion and diplomatic dialogue throughout this critical period. Deputy Assistant Secretary Jonathan Cohen’s visit to Turkey in October was followed by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim’s early November visit to the U.S. Although disagreements over several critical issues and their satisfactory resolution remain at large, the decision shows mutual confidence is now restored.

THO Executive Director Yenal Kucuker pens article on prospects for U.S.-Turkey ties in 2018
In “ The Year 2018 Is Crucial Year for The Turkey-U.S. Relationship ,” THO Executive Director Yenal Kucuker writes the following:

“These days, you do not have to follow relations between the United States and Turkey very closely to know that these critical NATO allies are going through a challenging period in their bilateral relations. Although the relations have been deteriorating for some time, particularly after the coup attempt in 2016, this year has been a particularly difficult year. Following the Trump administration’s Jerusalem decision, it is even more difficult to have an optimistic U.S.-Turkey relation forecast for 2018. However, it is important to keep in mind that the history of U.S.-Turkey relations clearly indicates that despite having difficulties, the overarching strategic relationship has always remained indispensable.”
