We are now accepting applications for our Summer 2018 Research Program in Turkey !

The THO Summer Research Program in Turkey is an annual, all-expenses-paid, month-long research trip in Turkey, during which selected young researchers will participate in meetings, excursions, and fieldwork on a chosen subject.

This year’s theme is “ Refugees and Asylum-Seekers in Turkey: Challenges, Opportunities, and Approaches .”

APPLICATION DEADLINE. April 2nd, 2018 at 11:59 PM

DATES. July 18-August 15, 2018

ELIGIBILITY. The program is open to current undergraduate/graduate students or recent graduates between the ages of 21 and 30. You must also be an American citizen to apply.

SAVE THE DATE: BOOK LAUNCH IN D.C.
On Thursday, March 22 , THO will organize a book launch in Washington, D.C. for Turkey’s July 15th Coup: What Happened and Why , a new academic publication addressing the Gulen movement in Turkey and its impact on Turkish politics.
 
The event will feature a discussion with Dr. M. Hakan Yavuz, co-editor of the book.

THO and TCA organize art exhibit on “African American-Turkish Connections Through the Arts.”
On February 28 , THO and Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) organized an art exhibit and reception on Capitol Hill celebrating “ African American-Turkish Connections Through the Arts .”
 
This exhibit featured profiles of  James Baldwin  and  Ahmet Ertegun  as well as 12 paintings by Turkish-American artist  Hulis Mavruk , who was in attendance to discuss his work.

THO meets with Laura Batalla of the European Parliament Turkey Forum
THO was pleased to host  Laura Batalla , Secretary General of the   European Parliament Turkey Forum , at our office on February 26. During the meeting, David Hutchins, our Communications and Editorial Assistant, interviewed Ms. Batalla for the latest in our "Exclusive Insight" video series.
